good question. Maybe teams thought that it shifted the leverage more to their side for draftees to see their chance of playing in their draft  year waning as the summer passed? Or maybe it was just a throw back to an era of slower communications and the logistics of getting everyone signed was just more ponderous?

I think your 2nd point is spot on.

McMillan should sign, McKeon and Doughty definitely won't, other three are long shots.

reverse the order and list losses first :)

Also, don’t use GB, because that “assumes” games in hand are played at .500. Rank based on win%.

tigers are in second based on %

The way this team has played since the first 11 games, I wouldn't be surprised to see them end up with the first pick. Baltimore is more likely to get hot than we are... based on nothing, of course.

The big thing working against us "tankers" is that Baltimore plays in a much more difficult division.

Well, yeah, there is that whole logic thing.

The Tigers tho have a lot more to deal at the deadline than Baltimore does. If Nick, Boyd and Greene go, I believe they could catch up to Balt.

As far as I can tell, nobody signed this week.  I've checked Twitter, TigsTown, and the Tigers site.  The deadline passed 26 minutes ago
