Something tells me that this isn't gonna be the MLB.tv game of the day.  With that said I am interested in the pitching matchup.  Caleb Smith has been a beast thus far and of course Turnbull hasn't been too bad himself.

Caleb Smith vs Spencer Turnbull

Who you got in pick the suck?

Assuming he's in the lineup I'm all in on Harrison.

Last July Derek Jeter and some of the Marlins brass visited Greensboro, NC, the then home of their Low-A ball franchise. The Greensboro team was affiliated with the Yankees in the past and Derek Jeter played there in the minors for a stint. The Marlins and Greensboro had been affiliated with each other for 16 years as of last year.

So after the Marlins people toured the facility last summer, and whatever else they do on these visits, they voiced one concern that they preferred the ownership there address. One of Greensboro’s game day mainstays is a Black Labrador that is very involved in on field activities between innings and pregame. The dog is well trained and is synonymous with the Greensboro “Grasshopper” ballpark experience. Through the years there have been several of these dogs in succession as the fans enjoy them. I’ve been there several times can attest that the fans there do enjoy the dog’s participation between innings. Well, Derek Jeter and his folks voiced opposition to having dogs around the park and didn’t like the on-site residence for the dog and asked that the dog thing on the field and premises be discontinued at the park. The Greensboro ownership didn’t think a lot of the idea and made a decision, they signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates this season and the Marlins find their Low-A team in Clinton, Iowa. Not every day does a low minor league affiliate tell the parent club to shove it but this time Greensboro did. Thank you Greensboro.

I remember when Jeter bitched about the vendor at Tiger Stadium that got up on the dugout with a broom after the Tigers swept the Yankees, getting the guy fired.

I never cared for him much after that.  This sounds like the sort of thing he'd get in a twist about.

Two teams enter, one team wins by default because you can't have ties.

I remember this play from way back when because I had both players on my fantasy team and was watching this game when it happened.

Sports of The Times; Jeter's Cold Shoulder Toward Huckaby Is Off Base

Its a bit of a long read.  I've always had this back in the corner of my mind about Jeter.

Essentially what happened was Jeter was injured on a play at 3B where he dove in headfirst while the catcher was covering 3B due to shenanigans where fielders ended up out of place.  It was an innocent play.  If anything, probably clumsy is the worst thing you could say about it.  Anyways, Jeter injures his shoulder, and pretty much stone faces Huckaby when he offers his condolences and well wishes.  As if Huckaby tried to injure the Jeter.

That's fantastic.

Redman played for 8 teams in 8 years at one point. The epitome of a journeyman pitcher.

Throws: Left

Pulse: Yes

For me, the only interesting thing about this series is that after the Tigers made it clear that they are not nearly as good as the Athletics, we now get to find out if they are also even worse than the Marlins.  The stats say probably not, but you know what they say about lies, damn lies, and . . .

Redman is a mutt.  He was pitching one of his crappy games once, someone made an error, and Redman pointed at him as if to say "not my fault".

He also once claimed that he wasn't pitching well because the guy behind him in the rotation wasn't giving him any protection, and that's why hitters were teeing off on him like they were Babe Ruth.

He wasn't a completely useless mutt.

The only good Yankee is a Yankee writhing in pain on the ground. Oh...and the future Austin Jackson.

The MLB's worst offense is clearly the worst because they haven't faced the Tigers until now.

I sure hope nobody messed up their excellent baseball swings by playing golf yesterday.

Let’s see if the Tigers bring the roar in this half inning.
