A quick search has revealed there has never been a professional baseball player (Majors or Minors) with the last name Hocks. So I think they pulled this guy out of the Hospital to catch tonight.

John

Hocks, MD West St. Paul Clinic, MN

“Baseball’s gone to this opener,” Gardenhire said. “We’re just joining in. That’s how I see it.”

Ron Gardenhire said the Tigers are looking for just a "couple" innings out of Gregory Soto tonight because they've got him slated to start again on Sunday.

Both today's start and Sunday's start will be on 3 days rest.

Red alert on the pitching issues man...Feel bad for Soto's elbow.

Miggy out tonight because of "right knee discomfort" or as Shelton would diagnose it "JV flu".

Vegas has Houston as -380 odds to win this game.  I don't think I've ever seen a line that lopsided.

Bet the house and farm on your Tigers.

No hitter intact

You must have missed the HR Soto gave up.

Soto still giving up a run an inning,  still didn't look ready to pitch in the ML but there was at least some decent stuff there to work with.

LOL - Jack has no clue what he is talking about. Verlander has thrown the same 80 mph curve since 2006. "Hard curve" my azz.

Gets Ham Hocks for out #3.

2-0, end 2.

I'm guessing this Verlander character has a lot more trouble the 2nd time through this lineup.

It's going to be real struggle to keep up his concentration.

He's a big lad, so there's that.
