I don't think Yzerman will be brought in until after the draft. And it really doesn't matter. They would be using the information that Holland's scouts developed either way.

Likely. Though Yzerman could certainly bring in information he has amassed from Tampa Bay's scouting staff.

That's probably why he wouldn't come until after the draft. They don't want any kind of impropriety.

Kind of depends on when his contract runs out. Any movement between teams, whether it is a player, coach, or executive, carries with it some institutional knowledge.

As a consultant with the team I wonder how much information he has access to now?  Wouldn't surprise me if in that scenario they might keep some things "internal".

OTOH, I don't know if Tampa cares that much about Steve knowing player x is their 5th rated prospect overall because they know that guy isn't going to fall to them at 30.

Take this for what it's worth (maybe not much), but I saw some chatter online that Yzerman, if he comes to Detroit, wouldn't be GM. He'd be President of Hockey ops and bring Pat Verbeek in as the GM. I could sort of see that playing out....Jimmy D is pretty much retired, maybe holland slides into that senior role for a year until Seattle opens up, then maybe takes that job. It makes a bit of sense, because Verbeek has been the assistant GM in Tampa. Verbeek used to scout for the wings too.
