She seems to be too juvenile to qualify as a hack.  It's like she's writing for her high school yearbook.

When she writes in long hand, she dots her i's with flowers...or hearts if it's close to Valentine's day

Yeah, once he lost out on the beat job to hackosky, he mellowed a bit and just started writing good stuff.

Tony Paul might be the best sportswriter we have in this terrible sports town.

In the event she ever starts writing for an outlet that is good enough to not hire her, she can get that designation.

Daz over 300 in his last 10, Reyes still raking, Rogers starting to pick it up (260 in his last 10). I want these three to force their way to Det by the ASB.

I can't get myself to start following him again. It just feels too dirty.

I don't think Victor Reyes is getting enough love.  If the guy literally had 5-7 more walks on the season, he would be playing at a pretty elite level.  Only 24, I think he has to be in the mix as Castellanos' replacement in RF.

I'm as equally impressed with the amazing savings you can get at Progressive Insurance.  $699 in ******* savings!

The problem is, he hasn't done that. And that doesn't sound like much, but it's near doubling his total. He walks about half as much as he needs to, at a minimum, to be useful. You can't be productive in the majors with a horrific walk rate. Almost nobody does, and he isn't "elite" enough to get by on that. His 102 wRC+ in AAA isn't likely to amount to much at the ML level.

He's a guy who could come up and provide a hot couple weeks or something, but that's about it. He's just another Avila guy who hacks at everything he sees.

You cannot get by with a bb% under 4 unless you luck into an incredible babip or you slug the **** out of the baseball. He's not getting love because it isn't likely he does either of those things. It's as simple as that.

Baseball America is pretty solid.  I think they made a bad choice, but I don't think they had to hire her.

On the contrary, by hiring her, they have shown that they are not solid. They are more like crunchy peanut butter.

actually Reyes' career walk rate is closer to 7% - not great, but passible. The odd thing with Victor is that he was walking at pretty much that normal rate until June, when he went on his crazy tear hitting 400. He has not taken a walk in June (with the Hens) but has hit 443. And ironically, he got one PA with the Tigers in his last short call up, and walked.

If a guy only doesn't walk when he is hitting 400, I could live with it. xD

Clearly he lulled pitchers into throwing only hittable strikes.

Yoda is right that he needs to walk more in general, but OTOH, but I do think his numbers are little skewed right now because of the hot streak. Practically speaking, when a guy is getting on base 440, when is he supposed to be looking for walks too?

I'm not asking for perfection, but he's still getting out 56% of the time.

Eddie Rosario has 5% walk rate for the Twins but adds value by hitting 25ish HRs a year. If Reyes' recent power surge is real and he can hit around 25 HRs in MLB the Tigers could live with his subpar BB rate.

Unsurprisingly, Al took the wrong Reyes in the rule 5.  The other one is 6th in the NL in HRs.

No one is bagging on crunchy peanut butter. Simply describing that baseball America has some solid parts but also a lot of mushy parts.
