Your 1st place Detroit Tigers.

For now, we'll share it with the Twins (and whoever wins the delayed KC/CWS game), who just wrapped up their own 2-0 victory over Kluber.

ESPN has us 1st, I'll use them as the tiebreaker.  😉

Well, I mean... we did get there first.  Despite the extra inning.

Woo hoo!

Baseball's back, Mario and Rod and Mueller are gone, and the Tigers are in first place.

A perfect game would have been nice, but it's still a great day so far.

In 1984 they went wire to wire in first

35 years later it looks like they’ll do it again

I anticipate 36-4 in the first 40.  Or am I selling them short?

Did Jack Morris just say "Had the Tigers not scored any runs they would have been shutout"? 🤔

Let's get those "Zimmermann to ______________ " trade rumors fired up.

To the Padres for Luis Patino and Josh Naylor

If the Tigers don’t play together, they won’t be a team.

This Tigers' starting rotation is pretty awesome.

Zimm and Boyd, then pray to Goyd.

I think we’re better than that. I’m really hoping Turnbull does well and Ross finished well. Moore...meh, not so good.

I do think Zimmermann is going to have his best season as a Tiger, which I know isn't necessarily saying much other than I don't think today was entirely a fluke (even if he did get away with some hard hit contact).  He hasn't really pitched that many innings the last three years and I do believe that will help this year.

Will he be good enough to warrant trade deadline interest for some team to take the final year and half of his contract?  Probably not but I wouldn't be surprised if he was either.

People never got excited about Stewart as a prospect but there is definitely value in a guy who can hit .260 with 25 dingers.  Maybe .260 is optimistic but I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.  It's nice just to watch a guy who is a threat to round the bases every time up.

Analytics gave Zimmermann the following report on all of the Blue Jay batters:

"**** him.  Give him some low smoke and go and pound some Budweiser."

How did Reed Garrett make this team? Rule V or not, the guy had a terrible spring.

Outscoring the Jays was a key to today's victory.
