Zadina's 1st NHL goal!

Gives the Wings a 3-2 lead with 2 minutes to go in regulation but the Avs quickly tie it and then the Avs win it in OT.

Perfect kind of game...Hronek 2nd on the team in even strength TOI, Zadina has a ton of ES TOI and gets his first goal. And they don't get the extra point.

Looking at the box score I can dig this ice time distribution.  I need to sit down and watch these games to get a look at Zadina, I've heard he's looked pretty damn good?

Abdelkader under 10 minutes is beautiful.

Abdelkader and Helm suck.

Do you think Abdelkader has just gotten old fast, has lost his ambition, or just that what we thought we saw in him was solely a creation of Datsyuk and Z? I seem to remember him as at least a moderately effective hockey player, but you are so right that he just seems like a hole on the ice anymore.

I thought Hronek struggled in spots.

Maybe the poor kid was running out of gas at times? Blashill had him out there for 27 min! Most he's logged in a game since coming up.

He never was a smooth skater, but his strides seem more choppy and less efficient to me than in the past.  Now that his average skating (at least to me) seems to have worsened, it exposes his lack of hands, offensive instincts, etc.  It also hurts him in his defensive coverage responsibilities.  Plus a severe drop off in talent on his line from D and Z won't help...

Abdelkader's ideal minute per game total would be "healthy scratch".

He just was never that good and should have been dumped once they decided to rebuild.

Abby had one year based on an unsustainable shooting iirc. And a game that is entirely based on physicality that doesn't generate offense. Holland once again paid for leadership and intangibles and whatever skill he had has slowly deteriorated. Thankfully it was a 7 year deal so he's only the books 4 more years @ $4.25 million.

And he benefited from playing with Pavel D.

Mike Green(virus) is out for the season. Played 66 games last year and will end up with 43 this year. He is signed for one more year @ 3.375 million.

The Athletic:

Quote

2. If Lightning GM Julien BriseBois is concerned at all about a possible offer sheet for RFA Brayden Point, he did a good job of hiding it. One of the teams you hear as most likely to consider an offer sheet is the Detroit Red Wings, a franchise that has cap space, a need for elite young players and a desire to get better quickly. Factor in the Steve Yzerman connection, if he ends up back in Detroit, and there are certainly lines to be drawn to Point.

BriseBois wasn’t sweating any possible threats, echoing the talk coming from Point’s camp that he likes it in Tampa and wants to make it work there. That gives BriseBois confidence a deal is doable.

“I really don’t foresee this being a problem,” BriseBois said. “I think it makes sense for both parties.”

It’s gonna be a fun run to the line for the Wings, Kings, and Sens.

In the last 12 games, Ottawa and Detroit have lost 10 and LA has lost 11.

Someone posted this on reddit, I don't see a lot of wins for the Wings to wrap up the year....

Meanwhile, Colorado's 6-3-1 record in the past 10 games has decreased its lottery odds of getting 2 of the top 3 picks in this year's draft.

Jeff Blashill began his Thursday morning chat with the media with two pieces of news: Dylan Larkin will miss Thursday night's game against the Rangers, and Mike Green is done for the season.

For Larkin, the problem is "a lingering back issue," Blashill said, that first came up earlier in the season and has recently returned. It's not yet clear when Larkin might return. Blashill said he'll have a better idea on Friday after the Red Wings' back specialist reviews the results of Larkin's MRI.

"He had a little bit of it earlier in the year, it went away and then he's had it here in the last little bit. I don't know if it was a hit (he took) or not. He’s tried to play through it. It’s really bothered him at different times to a point that I didn't know if he would finish some games," said Blashill.

He added he's "not concerned" about Larkin long-term.

It's going to get uglier....I don't think they win anymore than 3 regulation games the rest of the way.
