2019 Bold Predictions Thread

Late to the party but...

Jody Mercer will be the single greatest FA signing in the history of the Tigers until he is released right before the All Star break

Daniel Norris will be lauded as turning a corner as he only makes 2 trips to the DL this season including a season ending hammy problem at the beginning of August.

Grayson Greiner will make people forget all about James McCann as he finishes the season hitting .187 with 2 HRs

Niko Goodrum, the Tigers top hitter, narrowly misses winning the batting title, only .088 points behind the eventual winner.

Victor Alcantara will be the sole representative on the AL All Star team.

nick castellanos has a better age 27 season than jd martinez did when he was 27.

by the end of 2019, manning is a higher ranked prospect than mize.

matt boyd has a better season than michael fulmer.

christin stewart hits more home runs for the tigers than miguel cabrera.

not too late?  OK

--Mikie Mahtook hits between 3 and 22 HR's this season.

--Castellanos doesn't get traded, and due to lack of interest in free agency, will be forced to sign a short-term contract with us, yielding less than $10 million per season.

--Daz Camerons gets more AB's in Detroit than JaCoby Jones.

--Jordan Zimmerman wins 13 games this season, including the total he amasses with his new team.

--Shane Greene has a sub 3.00 ERA and 22 saves when he is dealt in July.

--Tiger HR leaders are, in order, Cabrera, Castellanos, Candelario, Stewart.  All with over 20.

--Josh Harrison has a season to rival one of his best.

--Matt Boyd is dealt at the trade deadline, Tyson Ross and Matt Moore are not.

--Greyson Greiner will make you forget Milt May.

--Tigers do not lose 100 games.

--Alex Faedo will rise to prospect relevance again, but not worthy of his 1st round status.  Ditto, Beau Burrows.

--Derek Hill makes it to Toledo, once Daz gets promoted.

--At least half of these predictions will be wrong.

well....you got the last one right!

Jose Iglesias will outperform Jordy Mercer and James McCann will outperform Grayson Greiner.

Mikie Mahtook will perform better than Niko Goodrum.

John Hicks will lead the team in home runs.

Mercer is outperforming Iglesias, but only by a little bit.  All Star James McCann is miles ahead of Greiner.

LOL Mahtook.

John Hicks is 3rd on the team in HR and does have a chance to lead the team.  He needs 4 without Dixon or Rodriguez getting any more.

Mercer has played 71 games with a WAR of 0.4 while Iggy has played 140 games with a WAR of 1.3. I like Jordy but would definitely give the nod to Jose.

Is this an accomplishment or an indictment?

I'll be there so I'll take a picture from a gaping fan's point of view and post it.

Matt Moore will pitch his way out of the rotation before May.

Shane Greene will have 20 saves and a 120 ERA+ and be moved in July.

Casey MIze will undergo Tommy John surgery and be out until August, 2020.

Niko Goodrum will make his way back to Toledo before the All-Star break.

Christin Stewart will finish second in the vote for AL Rookie of the Year.

Jay Sartori will leave the Tigers front office shortly after the season.

Miguel Cabrera will start the September 29 game against the White Sox at first base.

I should have stopped after two.

Were you predicting Jay to leave for another FO or to get out of baseball?

How bout a non Tiger one. Tampa will win the AL East.

Didn't win it but will likely finish with a high 90s win total and make the playoffs so I'll take it.

Nice call. Now that's a team that understands player development. Too bad they can't draw fans, even in a race for the playoffs
