Its kinda like lending your kid or best friend a thousand bucks and breaking their legs or taking them to collections because they only paid you back 995 dollars.  You can argue you had the right to, but, uh... #pettyaf ?

Seems more like lending your kid or best friend a thousand bucks then having the audacity to ask them to pay you back.

Calvin Johnson wasn't lent any money. He was paid to do a job he did not complete. It would be like hiring a roofer and the roofer only did 90% of the roof but expected to be paid for the entire job. Here's the thing, the Lions were probably going to be forced to cut him. He would have expected his full signing bonus if the Lions cut him but yet he feels like he isn't required to hold up his end of the contract.

or that you paid the roofer a bonus up front to complete all the work.  when he doesnt complete it, you want that money back.

i dont care either way, honestly, but it gets annoying to hear calvin ***** about it all the time.

oh somewhere in this favored land, the sun is burning bright,

the band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light,

and somewhere men are laughing, and children well-behaved,

but there is no joy in Tater-ville, might Connor Cook has been waived.

Must not have been throwing Tabor as many catchable balls as Stafford.

Lions trading Michael Roberts to the Patriots.

Never mind.  The trade was rescinded and the Lions waived him instead.

No it's not. Calvin Johnson didn't borrow any money. He was contracted to perform a job. He decided to quit. You don't get severance for quitting and breaching a contract. I don't understand why the expectation is that the Lions would be expected to pay his signing bonus in full if they would have cut him, but they cannot recoup the money the player owes them when the player quits on the team. Here's the best part. Calvin Johnson owed the Lions $3.2 million. He only had to pay back $320,000. He's made over $100 million in his career. I'm thinking babytron is the petty one here.

Mike O'Hara: Matt Stafford Played With a Broken Back

Quote

O’Hara: “He is durable, but he does play with injuries. Turns out he had a broken back last year. Broken bones in his back.”

Brown interrupts: “Were you supposed to say that?”

O’Hara after a pause: “It’s been reported.”

Brown, laughing: “It’s been reported? I didn’t see that – Did you put that report out?”

O’Hara: “Just now. No, I read that. Word gets out in the National Football League.”

I haven't seen a single report about Stafford having had a broken back and having played through it. I am not sure what O'Hara is referencing here.

Glad it’s been confirmed. I’ve seen people on other platforms denying it.

O’Hara’s only been a Lions beat writer since 1977. Wonder when he’ll get off of probation and we can accept his stories at face value.

Anyway, hats off to Stafford. He has had a **** of a year. I’d like to buy that man a beer.

Ian Rapoport confirmed the broken back injury.

Did the Lions know this?   If they knew this and they let their $27 million man play in meaningless games, then that's inexcusable.

What am I saying meaningless for - with Matt Cassell we would have lost at least one more game and gotten a better draft pick.

This team can't even fail right.

Anyone else get the feeling that Kliff Kingsbury will throw a bunch of stuff at the Lions and Kyler Murray will have a great first game and they will blow out the Lions and then about 3-4 weeks later be shown as frauds?

They've at least had the good sense to fire everyone a few times.    😉

He needs all that money to grease palms to get his marijuana business licensed.

Given that we don't know what this team is and will be, that's a possibility. This is one of the most unknown teams, with the largest variables, in the NFL. Looking at this from the perspective of they could be a really solid team if things click or they could be another 6-10 train wreck. So I could see them blow the Cardinals out or another repeat performance of what Sam Darnold and the Jets did to us.

I am not sure Kingsbury will be good overall, but at the beginning he make throw a few curves, but by the 4th or 5th week the league will have him figured out.  Too bad the Lions won't have any real tape on Arizona.  You know they'll be very vanilla in the preseason.
