he got less for verlander than the cubs gave up for quintana but at least he got something for the best pitcher of his generation.  he got nothing for jd martinez.

It's amazing how many people want to beat that horse.

The 3 prospects we got for JD are kids.  19-23 years old.  To say we got "nothing" for him is premature.

MLB Pipeline ranks Lugo 15th - ahead of Kody Clemens for example.  Alcantara 21st in our system.

King isn't in the top 30 but at age 19 as a SS he just had a .372/.477/.849 OPS at Lakeland.  I think it's a bit early to write him off.

all this has been hashed and rehashed.  no, they didnt have the perfect storm of great contracts and overall futility that the white sox had, but lets not downplay what an asset verlander was even with his salary.  he got a decent return for verlander.  he gets a b on that.  an f for martinez and an a for wilson/avila.

Verlander & Quintana = apples & oranges

Very different situations:

-Quintana is younger, friendlier contract and controllable.  Verlander does not have a team-friendly contract plus no-trade protection, which makes it much more difficult to trade.

-Verlander has been much better with Houston.  He wasn’t nearly as coveted when we dealt him.

-The Cubs proved that they were more willing to trade good prospects for veteran help than other teams, including the Astros.  We benefited from that big time in the Wilson/Avila trade.

Plus, the jury is still out on the prospects acquired in the Verlander/Quintana trades.

Approval up at least five points, given the Tyson Ross triumph.

He is probably pushing 6 or 7 points by now.
