Knew the benefit of free trade, collective security and the rule of law.  My kind of Republican.  RIP

Powerful...

When I heard that Barack had visited him on Tuesday, I had wondered how he was doing. I know the timing was coincidental, but he didnt look in great shape the last time I saw him.

Yeah, it does appear that they knew the end  was near.

Over the summer, I had the opportunity to visit the George H.W. Bush Library in College Station. Incredibly informative... I did not know the story of Chichijima and his escape until the visit.

The visit also put into perspective his role at the end of the Cold War... Reagan gets a lot of the credit for ending it, but there's a lot of ways managing the end could have went wrong. HW deserves a lot of credit for things going as (relatively) smoothly as they did.

I was thinking earlier that he was the only President who ever flew close air support in combat which endears him to me just a bit more given my background.

Although, I do hold most pilots in contempt.

My favorite president.

Been soaking all of this in.  So many new anecdotes came up.

One in particular was when the SC ruled on the election Bush 41 immediately called Al Gore.  He knew loss and it was an emotional call.  That tells you how empathetic he was.  He did something similar with LBJ in 1969 on Inauguration Day.  He met him at the airport while the rest of his GOP brethren in congress were celebrating with Nixon.  Bush wanted to comfort his fellow Texan at a bad moment.

I did not know they'd lost a child before this. Touching cartoon.

Do people in heaven always remain the age they die at? If so, then Blue Bloods must be the runaway #1 show up there.

I'd imagine CBS is killing it up there

SNL Weekend Update did a nice tribute to George Bush tonight, with heart. Look for it on YouTube tomorrow.

Heard a lot about how civil he was and how that is in stark contrast to Trump.

Guess the Willie Horton ad never happened.

I'd take a Bush 41 presidency over Trump 10 times out of 10, and so would you.
