Anyone who wants stafford as the lions QB openly colludes for lions losses.   OL was ok.   QB play failed them.

I fell asleep.  Woke up to see them go for a Field Goal down 17-9 in the 4th quarter.     Disgraceful.    Absolutely disgraceful.   Why would you not go for it there?

You can't hide
You're Lionized
and your "pride"
is a thin disguise
I guess by now
You've realized
There ain't no way to hide
you're Lionized.

We were told that once Stafford got a running game magic would happen and the guy would take off. He's got Kerryon Johnson and he's still playing subpar football. Yeah, he's been sacked a billion times today (hanging onto the football too long is partly to blame) but he's still playing poor football. Do you really think Stafford this season has lived up to his $29 million contract?

With that constant pressure, they needed to call quick pass plays. Either they didn't call them or the Vikings were taking the quick slant away from us. Either way, Matthew looked like a rookie quarterback,  hanging onto the ball way too long. You would think he would learn after the first few. But...no.

He looked like he did in the Jets game.   He's done.  He got his money.    Like I said after last week's game, I wasn't really into bagging on the guy and I am not saying he isn't good, but they are never winning anything that matters with him.

OL was OK? For the Vikings, maybe. Detroit's OL stunk.

But they haven't won anything that matters, ever, with any players. Billy, Barry, Herman, Calvin and many others. All wasted talented players who were unlucky enough to play for Detroit.  At least Billy Sims tried to leave. lol

well, you were wrong when you wrote it and youre wrong now.

there isnt enough talent on the team to win 11 games.  there definitely isnt enough when stafford is playing poorly.

theyre going to have a lot of draft picks and a ton of cap space for next year.  we'll see what quinn does with it.  hopefully more than he did in this offseason.

Plenty of talent.  Not enough coaching. Bad QB.

Who knew Caldwell was the answer.

He deserves it, but it won’t happen. This kind of offensive breakdown today was not an individual bad player, but a total system failure. And it happens regularly. The reporters will pick the easy storyline, “They sure missed Golden Tate,” but we saw these performances with him.

JBC needs to move on.

Watching other games.  Amazing what happens when you throw the ball more than 5 yards.

After JBC gets fired, how many QBs that have been in the league as long as Stafford, while winning nothing of any remote significance, have survived 3 different HC's and 4 different OC's?

We all know the Lions are one of worst run ORGs in sports history,  but Jesus ******* Christ, any competently run franchise would of moved on already.

That's why I am saying he might be in trouble.  It was systemic, not one or two players.    And it wasn't Patricia's guy it was Stafford's guy and the way Stafford has played this year, the Head Coach must might say screw it, I want MY guy, everyone else be quiet and do your job.

What I actually think is Stafford is more the OC than JBC is and JBC stays because he doesn't question the role he's in.    Even when he did have some open receivers today he missed them or made very dangerous throws that he USED to get away with.    Maybe them babies is keepin' him up all night.   He looked like this much of the Jets and 49ers game too.

The problem with firing him now is that they would almost certainly have to replace him internally. I don’t think Jeff Davidson is up to the task.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Patricia is more involved in offensive meetings, but his defense still needs a lot of work too.

Didn't you say that Sanchez was better than Stafford and wanted to draft Connor Cook?  You have no credibility to speak on the subject.

Keep those fingers crossed tight, maybe one day we'll win something with this guy. Maybe'll he turn into a QB that shows up consistently. Maybe he'll turn into a QB that can beat good defenses with high defensive efficiency stats. Maybe he'll win a playoff game. Maybe, but probably not. I'm glad you're still hoping though.

They eventually made a winner out of Jim Plunkett. Anything is possible.

He is who he is. A mid-level QB, the 11th-12th-13th-14th-15th best guy in the league. A guy with the ability to pad stats when defenses play soft-zone and prevent and make himself look like a faux top 6 or 8 QB. A guy who should be making less but is making $29 million because that's what the market dictates.

But holding onto the ball too long, mis-reading defensive coverage, throwing off of his back foot, poor body angling when making a throw, none of that is his fault. You see, it is the fault of Schwartz and Linehan, Caldwell and Lombardi, Caldwell and Cooter, Patricia and Cooter, the offensive line, the lack of a running game, Eric Ebron, Brandon Pettigrew, Kris Durham, a crop of bad wide receivers, the Ghost of Germaine Crowell, etc.

I've posted this before and I'll post it again, though the stats need to be updated to reflect last year and this year. The data is still true to life though that our QB is trash against decent and great defenses.

Football Outsiders Defensive Efficiency stats ranks total defensive performance by a team over the entirety of a season. From 2011-2016 the Lions have played a total of 42 games where the opposing teams defense ended up ranked in the top 15 (at season's end).

In 2011 they played defenses with a total end of season rank at 13th, 4th, 3rd, 8th, 4th.

2011 Totals: Record 2-3. Average QBR of 33.14. Average completion% of 57.48%. 10 TD, 6 INT.

In 2012 they played defenses ranked 7th, 3rd, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 8th, 4th, 8th, 6th, 12th, 1st.

2012 Totals: Record 2-8. Average QBR of 46.02. Average completion% of 58.20%. 13 TD, 14 INT.

In 2013 they played defenses ranked 2nd, 5th, 8th, 7th, 8th, 4th, 6th.

2013 Totals: Record 1-6. Average QBR of 45.80. Average completion% of 54.98%. 12 TD, 11 INT.

In 2014 they played defenses ranked 15th, 5th, 6th, 7th.

2014 Totals: Record 0-4. Average QBR of 33.15. Average completion% of 53.38%. 2 TD, 4 INT.

In 2015 they played defenses ranked 15th, 1st, 6th, 3rd, 15th, 7th, 9th, 12th, 9th, 6th.

2015 Totals: Record 2-7. Average QBR of 45.61. Average completion% of 63.74%. 13 TD, 10 INT.

In 2016 they played defenses ranked 4th, 15th, 9th, 8th, 8th, 12th, 2nd.

2016 Totals: Record 5-2. Average QBR of 69.01. Average completion% of 67.36%. 12 TD, 2 INT.

Since 2011 (discounting Stafford's first two seasons lost to injury), the team and coaching staff that are as equally or more to blame for a loss as their QB Matt Stafford, are 12-30 against defenses ranked in the top 15 of Football Outsiders Defensive Efficiency metric. The team played a total of 42 games against top 15 opponents over that time period.

His average QBR, in 42 games played against top 15 ranked defenses is 49.81 QBR. His average completion% is 59.19%. He's thrown for 62 TD's and 47 INT's. He has a TD to INT ratio averaging approximately 1.48 TD's (per game) to 1.12 INT's (per game).

Where were you in the games when Stafford played well this season and last? Nowhere to be found.  You're the worst kind of poster, a complete ghost when your opinion is proven wrong then show up to gloat the few times you look to be validated.

In any event, you'll always be looked at as the guy who thought that Sanchez and Cook was better than Stafford so nobody will ever take you seriously.

BTW, I've always said that Stafford is a bit overrated but was good enough to win with.  He's had the worst running game in the league to work with since he came into the league and one of the worst O-Lines up until this season really. He's made his fair share of mistakes over the years but if the Lions even had an average QB or lets say Sanchez or Cook, we'd be talking about a stretch of football arguably worse than the Millen era throughout the Mayhew and Quinn years.
