Game 8: Detroit @ Minnesota. The Golden Era of Lions football is over

You aren't supposed to say that as a Lions fan, only make excuses for the $29 million man. You are supposed to tow the company line and talk about how hard it is to find good QB's in the NFL and how lucky we are to have Stafford, otherwise we would have as many wins as teams with bad QB's. It's NEVER Stafford's fault.

if only we had drafted connor cook in the first round like you said, we'd be super bowl champs by now.

Lol 8 sacks.  All sorts of time to throw.   Refuses to throw.  As long as stafford is a lion we can’t win.

Again KJ picks up nice gain to outside on 1st down. Again JBC has them passing on 2nd and short. Again Stafford ruins it by holding the ball too long.

$29 million for a season on pace to go 6-10, 7-9 and miss yet another playoff. Glad we gave the bank to STafford.

It's never, ever Stafford's fault. Don't you have a ready made excuse like good Lions fans are supposed to use?

If only the Lions had given that money to one of the other, great, not overpaid, QBs like Kirk Cousins, Alex Smith, Derek Carr, Eli Manning....

Not taking up 20% of a team's salary cap for 6-10 level results. Are you really defending Stafford? The guy has played like a straight bum in at least four games now (Jets, 49'ers, Seahawks and today) and is one of the highest paid players in the league. If I am paying a QB $29 million, I demand better results than this.

Lions top 5 highest paid players:

Stafford

Ansah

Slay

Lang

Wagner

Ansah, Wagner, and Lang have combined to make 35 million/year

Do you think they've contributed more or less than Stafford?

How about Nevin Lawson at 4.6 million?

Is Stafford Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers or one of those guys who can just win with 0 help? No, there's a reason those guys are going straight to the hall of fame. I wish the Lions hadn't re-signed him so he could go to a real franchise and win a bunch of games and then everyone would be crying about that instead of blaming him. But alas, he's gone the Barry/Calvin route of never winning anything.

Stafford has been sacked more than he has receptions to his wide receivers? Well done. Early draft picks and free agent signings to rebuild our o-line? It didn't work.
