2018-19 Off-season Thread

Recommended Posts

Just weighing in and saying......boy, I can't wait till July/August!   This off season is just depressing.  I'll always follow the Tigers closely and am sure I will in the first half but I really think the "bottom" of this cycle for diehards is thru ~ the trade deadline.  At least then maybe we start seeing a Daz or Castro play every day, a couple Burrows starts, etc.....the start of the watch of the "build" (whether it works it not which will be funner than the first half for sure).

For me ..it will only be funner when they winner more than they loser.

The journey can be fun.  Right now, the journey hasn't started though.  They are still packing their bags.

To be fair, it was fun when McCann packed his bags.

I hope that's not the highlight of the rebuild...

When does Gardenhire pack his bags?

When Avila said, "younger and leaner," why didn't that include the manager?

He had a young manager - he managed more like an old guy than Gardenhire  - so go figure.

Gardenhire is a miracle worker to avoid 100 losses with that **** show last year.

I think it was because there were so many bad teams.

Yup.  The parity in the slum division of the AL Sucktral should make it difficult for those teams to meet their full potential of dumpster fire.

Correct. How anyone attributes this to the dinosaur is beyond me.

Harold Baines?  What does it take for Lou Whitaker to get into the ******* Hall of Fame. Harold Baines?  The Tigers should offer the game committee lifetime Little Caesars pizza as an incentive to get Lou in the Hall of Fame. JFC.

Should he be fired for suggesting we trade for a player that is a free agent?

Given the trend in his numbers, it's an easy prediction that if Kinsler gets on the field in 2019 he will OPS < 550.

That’s a different issue.  I can’t believe he isn’t aware that we can just sign him, if we wanted to.  I would expect more accuracy from a blogger.

They changed the headline. It no longer refers to a trade. To the writer’s credit, it’s clearly an article about signing him as a free agent.

That said, it is an awful idea.

We are better served deferring to Goodrum at 2B and keeping the seat warm for a prospect to potentially break out, like Lugo.

I think it was the intern who writes the headlines that screwed that up. Maybe not. I only just read it, and there is no mention of trade. But you can see from web address that “trade” was in the original headline maybe?
