If not Martin, I will kill myself.

That seems just a tad... extreme.

If not Martin, Rule 5 picks could be SS Drew Jackson (LAD) and/or RHP Cody Ponce (Mil)

Jackson would be the best pick.

Problem is they have restricted access off and on, so the three hour drive for me ends up not being worth it when the games get moved up unannounced or the guy in the orange hat at the gate isn't letting people back there.

One of my best experiences down there was when Rodney and Zumaya were doing rehab.  This was after Spring training ended, so there was not a lot going on. I don't think we were supposed to go back there, but my father and I did anyway (my father is a lot more ballsy than me).  We were the only two fans watching Rodney and Zumaya throw.  It was funny because they acted just the way you would expect.  Zumaya was all amped up and Rodney acted like he didn't give a ****.

Beck has a list of possible non-tender guys who the Tigers could target.

My beloved Tim Beckham is mentioned. He still has two years of control.

Also mentioned is Matt Shoemaker who is from MI and still lives there in offseason. He feels like a good, reasonable target. The new Fiers.

The off-season is going to be so much fun.  I can't wait to see what Avila does at the winter meetings next week.

Looks like Schoop to the Twins for a little over $7 mil for one year...

As long as they start the Rule 5 draft on time, that's all that I care about.  Last year there were repeated delays before it started, and the nervous anxiety eventually became too much for me and I ended up sh***ing myself.

That was fun.  The pot started at $80 and then declined.  And Ty got a carton of Winstons - I wonder what that was worth, maybe $3.00 ?  Back when $3.00 was a lot of money of course.

Didn’t he buy 10,000 shares of Coca Cola for $3.00?

Which is about five times the Tigers’ budget for a shortstop.

They can probably get Alcides Escobar for $2 million.  Gardenhire likes him.  He remembers when he was good.

Is that anything like when Leyland and Dombrowski remembered when Renteria was good?

Renteria had a .860 OPS the season before he got here and .800 the year before that. No reason to think he'd drop to .421

Maybe not quite, but according to Wikipedia the original shares he bought for $40 would be worth $8,000 when he died.

Jacks Jones OPSed in the .400s.

Yeah, I think you are right with Renteria.  His bat did slump, but I think his defense was awful.  The pitching was deplorable as well.  Good times, eh?

Was that the season with the lineup of 1,000 runs?

That's what this team needs.  He led the league in sacrifice hits with 10 as late as 2016.  The irony is that he had 18 in 2011 but didn't lead the league.  That's like remembering Ty Cobb leading the league with 9 home runs.

Renteria took so much blame that season. It wasn’t a good season for him, and it didn’t help that JJ pitches so well for the Braves.

Just another example of the NL being inferior to the PL.

Rent-a-wreck was just plain awful in Detroit.  This was a terrible move.
