I think any discontent with Harbaugh is much higher in the fan base away from Ann Arbor, and particular on sports talk radio, than in the UM administration. The University has more realistic goals for the program than Ritchie calling from Warren. And I'd also guess Harbaugh is going to have to have tougher seasons than 10 wins before the lure of the NFL claims him back.

Best recruiting class in the the B1G seems like a good way to start in any case.  I'm hopeful and agree with your take below about the BB team.

Michigan is one really bad half of football away from being in the playoff.  The guy that has dominated the conference retired and been replaced by a first time head coach.  The recruiting class is strong again and the starting QB returns. Michigan will be ranked in the top 10 to start the season and the choice of most pundits to win the Big 10 next year.

Thats a pretty good situation to be in.

i get why michigan people are upset after this year's ohio state debacle, but three out of four years with 10 win seasons is nothing to shake a stick at.

i expect them to be in the top 10 next year with a very good offense.

I’m in that wonderful state of being disappointment and also perfectly content at the same time. It’s great. I can complain or defend depending on my mood.

Chase Winovich gets the fluff piece today about how he is putting it all the line for the team even though he needs surgery and the team means everything to him and he is so gritty, unlike those “other” guys who are sitting out the game.

I think it's interesting that at least from what I've seen, Harbaugh isn't dinging his guys for sitting out. Then again, this is a guy that made at least $20 million in the NFL by my very quick contract check, he knows which side the bread is buttered on, and I would think his players would respect him for being straight about it. Now maybe that does mean Harbaugh isn't going to be able to give the most over-wrought pre-game speech.

Was there any mention of Conor McGregor?  I prefer all of my Winovich fluff pieces to be 50% his years of healthy eating and 50% the Conor bromance.

Nope, it was all “I care about the team and finishing what I started. But no offense to my dudes that are not playing they have to do what’s best for them. It’s just so important and a sign of personal superiority to play even when injured and with my draft prospects at risk. But those guys are cool, too, even though they have no character and hate the team.”

Winovich did the honorable thing and stuck around for the bowl. His character will allow him to lead a comfortable life.

His teammates did the selfish thing and sat out the bowl. Their personally driven decision will result in their making oodles of money in the NFL.

Moral of the story - being selfish pays off.

why are you mad at winovich for playing in the bowl game?  he's there on a football scholarship, he should play football.

as to the others, that's their choice and a respectable one.  its a career decision, its a smart decision to make.  no criticism of them.

but why criticize the guy who actually stayed and played through injury to help the team you like?  i give him credit for playing and living up to his committment and the university's committment to him.

I’m not mad at him. I take issue with fluff pieces.

Hey, these schools use these guys for a profit.   These players are just doing it back.     They have to protect themselves.   I don't blame them at all.    Jake Butt lost millions.

I dont even care about the stupid Peach Bowl this year.

It was all right there for them a month ago and they got totally embarrassed.      From thinking playoffs or the Rose Bowl to the freaking Peach Bowl...........yeah, probably won't watch much of it.

Michigan hasn't been to the Rose Bowl since 2007.   12 years.     They haven't won it since 1998, 21 years.    That's just pathetic.

I agree completely, and I support the players who are sitting out. UM has made a ton of money off them, and a non-championship bowl game should not be an obligation for a draft-eligible player to participate in.

M does not convert 3rd and 4 inches on two tries.

UM play calling in short yardage is so predictable. If you know you are in two down territory you don't have to run short yardage O every time.

Who cares

Chase cares - he told us so.

Football at 9 in the morning is weird though, way too early for Beer and nachos.

Well, maybe for the nachos anyway..

Lee Corso and Kirk Hebstreit at 7:30am is weird but I am also used to it.

The second florida lined up for that touchdown play, I yelled "quarterback draw" because we only had one guy in the middle of the field.

Don Brown apparently didn't see it. Great job, Don.

Ironic given all the hype that by the end of season this D has become pretty average. They play a high risk style so they maybe they have more plays for loss that look dramatic, but overall they give up more 10+ plays so they just are not that hard to move the ball against.

And this O is just futile. They seem to play far below their talent level. It's like Hamilton and Harbaugh haven't figured out how to put the pieces together. This should probably be a pass first team but the brain trust refuses to commit to it. Harbaugh hasn't turned into Bo, he's turned into Woody.

The two minute offense has made no sense all season long. Absolutely no urgency or sense of time management

Brown has done a good job of disguising an average D with aggressiveness that’s effective against non-top tier teams. Our O will have to do something to beat Florida...and so far it’s been meh.

They need an offensive coordinator. And there are rumblings that they are going to get one. Maybe that will make Pep less relevant.
