If we had a decent bullpen

Recommended Posts

We would be in first place and easily over .500, who would have thought it. Gardenhire has been doing a great job, too bad he wasn't hired five years ago.

How revolutionary. "If we had better players, we'd be a better team."

Just admit it bobrob2004, you've been on the wrong side of the gardy signing all along.

Not necessarily.  Had better players last year .. and in 2015.  Last place both years.

Did we really have better players last year?  I mean, Niko Goodrum wasn't on the team.

Another fine example from the bullpen today. I think one of six's better comments that I remember was " I think our bullpen is jinxed" and went on to ask another poster what they thought. The Tigers have had a history of putting money into hitters vs. pitching.

Maybe there could be a google group or slack channel or something. It’s not surprising mlb shut down their forums.

Yes, if we had better players, plus good players who were not injured, we would be running away with the division right now.

This was my first thought, too.

I thought it was possible to be both these days?

Shane Greene has been working on improving his hanging slider.  Taking a big step up.

All he needs to do is read the notes scratched into the bullpen wall at Comerica.

Is this true?  Not in the draft anyway.  I thought DD was criticised for not drafting enough position players.  We sure have drafted a lot of pitchers lately.

When I was a subscriber to MLB, there were two GMs that had a show.  Anyway, one of them said something about the arms in the pen from year to year.  He said "you don't know what those guys are gonna do."  They implication is that we are dealing with mediocre or inconsistent arms in the first place.  (BTW - That is why when a reliever goes into the game and seems to have incredible stuff I am always yelling at the TV "Leave em in." )  The Tigers pen typically at or near the bottom of every category, year after year.  There was that one year that our pen led the league in balks.

For what it's worth Mr. Buttersworth was not from the mlb forum.

This is actually worth so much right now.

Some of the new posters are guys who stumbled upon Biggs' backyard sprinkler party last summer.
