Mario, stop saying Grand Slam Home Run, it's redundant, Mario.

Tigers at Seattle on Sunday.  Only game of series I could possibly make as tied up Friday and Saturday. Sunday is my wife's birthday. But the Tigers are entertaining and only 1 game out of 1st place. Could take my wife but she doesn't have a NEXUS pass and the border lineups could be nuts. Big decision, I may need to sleep on it. Or pray on it.

I didn’t think the Tigers would be as bad as some projected. Even with the sliver of optimism, I never would have imagined the first place team in the division can’t stay above .500. Circumstances are working out so the season has been interesting...so far.

Won the series. That’s all that matters. If you win every series, you will win the division.

It's nice to win the series, I agree, but this is the time to go for the throat, especially against evil Cleveland.

Cabrera has dealt with back issues in the past. He’s played through injuries — and played well — but said this time he’s not going to return until he’s healthy.

“Nobody appreciates when you play hurt, so I'm going to take my time and play when I'm good,” he said, half-joking. “I play a lot of years hurt here in Detroit. They don't appreciate that. When you are doing bad, they crush you. They crush you. They say you are bad. You should go home. You don't deserve anything. That you are old. I say ‘OK. I'm done playing hurt.’ When you are going good they say, 'Oh, oh, you're good.' Now I take my time."

I agree with him.

At the end of the day fans as a group really only care if a player is producing.  They don't want to hear that he is playing injured as an excuse for not performing.

If he is injured and producing, they are happy he is producing, maybe grant an extra brownie point for doing it injured.

If he is injured and struggling, they will say he should go on the DL, no extra credit for trying to played injured.

The only way they are going to any value of the rest of the deal is for him to play when he's reasonably healthy and produce. If that means playing 120 games/year, I'm fine with it.

That looks like a Spring Training lineup.  For an away game.

And we might sweep.

The equivalent lineup from 1996, when the Tigers lost 109 games with a cast of nobodies...

CF Jones = CF Bartee

3B Kozma = 3B Nevin

DH Castellanos = DH Fryman

RF Goodrum = RF Nieves

1B Hicks = 1B Clark

LF Mahtook = LF Pride

C Greiner = C Casanova

SS Iglesias = SS Cedeno

2B Machado = 2B Lewis

P Carpenter = P Van Poppel

Which team wins this matchup?

If it's April or May, then this team wins because Tony Clark never hits when it counts.  If it's later in the season, then the 1996 team wins.

96 easy. I'm not sure the 18 squad is better at any one position.

Only two runs instead of four in the first inning this time.  I smell sweep.

That isn't a sweep you are smelling and apologies in advance for creating it.
