4/19 @1:10 Baltimore Orioles vs. Detroit Tigers

A note on the pic, before the probables. Today is my dad's birthday. So I used a scorecard that he apparently filled out in one of the scorebooks/yearbooks/programs for today's game.

Nice.   But more than one run would have been encouraging.   ;-)

My dad's 1969 scorecard

Does that read 'Freehand' instead of Freehan?

I'm going to the game and do not care how cold it is because.... I'll be in a dang suite.

Then tonight I'm going to see Jack White... in a dang suite.

I like the 1969 lineup better. Although a couple of the 1969ers are dead, one is the pitching spot, and the rest are in their 70s and 80s, so it would be a close battle if they were to go head to head with the 2018 Tigers today.

My grandpa used to call Randy Savage the Martial Man.   So those things happen.

Stanley ended up playing SS during the regular season in 1969? I always thought it was the World Series when he saw his only time there. But wow, very cool. And Thank You for sharing.

I was wrong;

Stanley returned to play 59 games at shortstop the next year after Oyler was allowed to be drafted by the expansion Seattle Pilots. However, the Stanley at shortstop experiment did not work long-term. While he played reasonably well defensively (seven errors in 252 chances), his batting average dropped to .235. It recovered when he was returned primarily to the outfield for the remainder of his career. Detroit finished the 1969 season 19 games out of first.
