Should be some runs scored in this one.

Bill Freehan had that look that as a coach didn't require him to say much...

Law of averages says yes.  Which is not at all to say that the law of averages is a good law.

He looks like he could be a gun slinger on a TV western produced about the same time. He would have worn a white hat instead of a black one so you would know he was definitely one of the good guys.

So far the infield defense has not been very good.

Jeimer's made a couple of errors already. His arm looks like a bit of a weak link.

Of course those figures don't take ground ball velocity into account do they? If your pitchers are squared up more I'd guess your % of outs on GB will be lower.

I haven't watched them a lot yet this year, but from the limited amount I've seen - other than Jeimer's arm I haven't thought they looked too bad to me on the IF.

Miggy's a good defender because he scoops up some balls once in awhile.  That's what Rod tells me.

Machado's good because he's a "Mexican" and they're all good in the infield.

Iglesias is Iglesias.  We all know what a wizard he is.

Jeimer is good because he turned a triple play last year.

And of course there's MCCANNON!

STupid stats.

Dan was talking about Iglesias' defense on Sunday's broadcast.  Apparently they've been trying to position him more toward the hole since he's weak to that side and let's an above-average number of balls through, but he's got some kind of mental block where he drifts back closer to 2nd no matter what they do.

I suspect small sample size is playing a part.

Exactly. I'm not sure how they even make a claim this stat even matters. The combined record for the bottom 4 teams is 20-20. The top four teams? 18-20. Smoke and mirrors people. Too small a sample size or yet another meaningless statistic?

On the bright side, that's apparently gone up from the 67% it was on Friday.  Improvement!

What do you mean the improvement's not statistically significant either?

Johnny Barbato pitched an inning last night.  The first two batters struck out.  The third batter decided to forfeit his chance at bat.

Jason Krizan also had a monster night for Toledo last night -- 2 HR, 2 2B in 5 AB.

He and Gerber are both making early cases for some of those OF and/or DH spots with the big club.
