For, lo, the winter is past,

the rain is over and gone;

the flowers appear on the earth;

the time of singing birds is come,

and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.

I've done this thread somewhere (mlb.com, yahoo, prodigy...) for the last dozen or so years.  I don't have much faith this season but I don't feel right not doing it.

You could convince me that the reason the Tigers have sucked so hard for the past 3 years is because there’s always some yahoo starting a magic number thread in APRIL.

This year it's tongue in cheek.  They've won their division while this thread was going on in the past.  If you want to blame me for something blame me for UofM losing when I fly my M flag.

Spring is never going to come.    This is brutal.   Depressing and Brutal.

Tigers have their first winning streak of the season!  Maybe they won't lose 100 games after all.  Gardy is a genius!

Go Tigers!!!

Go Tigers!!!

If our pitchers perform and we can generate a few runs we might do better than that.

Genius maybe remains to be seen, but I can say it is refreshing for the first time going all the way back to  when Leyland came aboard, to have a manager who isn't too genteel or disinterested in anything besides 3 run HRs to push any advantage a game situation presents to the limit. I don't know how many games in the last 12 yrs the Tigers have gone against a slow pitcher and catcher who literally hadn't thrown anyone out all season, but the Tigers were too 'polite' to push the advantage (of course Ausmus did try to run more, but mostly badly and without regard to game situation). Gardenhire may turn out to have any number of faults, but unlike Leyland and Ausmus, one thing he won't do is leave any potential edge untested. He's just a more hard-azzed manager in that regard than we have had in a long time.

And to be clear, I'm not saying that necessarily makes him better or worse overall, just that it's going to make the Tigers a less comfortable or predictable team to play against and that can be more fun for a fan.
