Who Did Miguel Pass Today?

Recommended Posts

Someone born in 1940 likely isn't going to remember Hank Greenberg's play.  My dad was born in '37 and didn't remember much of Greenberg.

You'd probably need to be closer to 90-95 to remember MVP portion of his career.

Hank Greenberg was better, in my humble opinion, and his last season with the Tigers was 1946, so there are 80-someting-and-older people still around who saw him play.   But Cabrera is probably a solid Number Two.

There is little doubt that if WWII hadn't occurred right after his MVP season that he would have numbers as good or better than Miggy's if he remained sound.  Like Williams, he served during four+ prime years in his career.

My father remembers Greenberg and Gehringer.  If I could go back in time to any Tigers era, it would be the 1930s.

Yeah those teams were loaded, probably their best ever. If I had lived then I also would have loved to see Satchel Paige pitch in the negro leagues, and maybe hang out at the House of David

I just had a sim team made up entirely of players from the 30s.  I had the best record in the league and then Firpo Marberry blows a 4-run lead in the 8th inning of game seven. Never again will Marberry pitch on one of my teams.

The fact he went by Firpo instead of a manly name like Sheriff or Boss should have told you all you needed to know for a game 7 assignment.

Especially the 1935-1936 would have been an awesome time to experience sports in Detroit.

Miggy looks so bad.

I hope he hits 500 HRs (needs 18) and 3K hits (needs 148) by the end of next year so we can end the charade.

Would then require Ilitch to eat $72M to say good bye.
