Big Poison.

The dude had 3,152 hits and batted .333 lifetime.

And was nearsighted.

Tigers could use some nearsighted hitters.

I see Miggy with outside shots at 600 HR and 3500 hits.... that would mean he's Miggy for the next 5 years and relatively healthy.... That's asking a lot I know... I would be very surprised.

Is 550 and 3200 doable?  Only Hank Aaron and Willie Mays have done that.

Of course Barry Bonds didn't get 3000 hits because he had so many IBB.

It's a huge outside shot for him to get 500 HR and 3000 hits.

I don't see him getting 320 more hits and 35 more HR in his career.  His bat looks extremely slow and he hasn't hit the ball with any authority this season.  A DH or 1st baseman that can't hit, hit for power, and is below average with the glove isn't going to be much good for anything.

Plus, he has never appeared to be someone that cared about staying in shape, and he is likely to spend most of the season on the DL.   I don't think it was much of a surprise that he fell off so fast and so steep.

He had a 8 or 9 year stretch which measured with the best of all time, but he is simply a shell of his former self.

I'd like to wager you a small confection . . . .

It's a long season, and the Tigers have learned to be careful with their investment.  I bet he breaks the HR record mid-end of next year and the hit record at the beginning of the 2021 season.  And I think I'm being pessimistic.  Of course he's not the player he was in his prime.  But to be replaced, you have to find better.  Tigers have no one better.

I would wager my house and life savings on that bet...but since that isn't a reasonable bet, I will wager at least 1 Snickers bar on that.

I don't think the Tigers will replace him in the next few years simply because of his contract and they have nothing in the minors.  He'll have his shot to get to those numbers, but it will have to be in Detroit because no other team is going to take on that contract with his production. So I guess it depends on what else the Tigers have in the future at 1B.

You're on.  That Miggy will top 3,000 hits and 500 HRs in his career.

Snickers for you.  Make mine a large Mounds bar.

It was a good day.

I'm beginning to think that this is becoming a good team, especially after seeing how the kids are playing.

First, let me say thanks again your (near) daily updates on this.  I do enjoy looking at it.

Second, do you have an updated "over all" with all Cabrera's current numbers and where he ranks?

I usually do that end the beginning of the year, but I can whip a current update up for you if you're curious.
