So this is the first game (confirmed on Mario's twitter) for Fox Sports Detroit.

Atlanta is also broadcasting on the Tele and both teams radio team's will have this one. It just like the regular season!

That's why he went in a spring training thread. Get it out of the way.

There are two instantly recognizable people in that photo, Jim Campbell and George Kell.  The rest of them are empty suits.

Monaghan was that young?  I had no idea.  I guess that I never rally cared.

Yes, for me just 2.  I never knew what Glenn Schembechler looked like and never cared.

Bo fired Ernie.  That’s an unforgivable mistake.

For me, Bo will always be known as...the guy that fired Ernie.

Liriano doing his best Dontrelle Willis impression. Why would a rebuilding team sign a has been like him? Hoping he shows enough to trade him for some prospects? That would be my guess. 2 walks per inning won't get much though, just a DFA.

Yes that's why

Also there are 1480 innings we have to pitch

Mario and sidekick (whether it’s Kirk or Rod) are bad enough when the team is good. Now they’re going to be completely unlistenable.

The Tigers didn't sign him to be an innings eater. He never has been and probably never will be. He won't be on the roster past the trade deadline.

July 31, 2017: Traded by the Toronto Blue Jays to the Houston Astros for Norichika Aoki and Teoscar Hernandez.

That's why i said. Yes. to your question. Also pointing out that we have to have a pitching staff to pitch big league innings. He doesn't have to throw 200 to eat some of them. If he eats 100 or 60 that helps and lets us keep guys like Burrows in the minors.

which is hard enough to do even with a good staff.

It appears that Gardy has picked the guys in the rotation

Woodbery:

Quote

Gardenhire on Francisco Liriano: "He isn't fighting with anybody. We brought him for a reason. I think we need his veteran experience in that rotation and if he's healthy and well, I'm sure that's where he'll be."

Gardy says Daniel Norris is still fighting for a spot, but it's not clear who: "I'm not going to see who's fighting each other. It is what it is. We're just trying to find five guys to start. It isn't any mano y mano stuff."

He said only locks in rotation are Liriano and Michael Fulmer. That would leave Zimmermann, Fiers, Boyd and Norris ostensibly competing for 3 spots.

Zimmermann is under contract for $24M, Fiers for $6M, Boyd is out of options and Norris has one option remaining. So it's not too difficult to handicap this race.

speaking of guys who could lose 20, Boyd would be my candidate. I can see him being in pretty much the same situation as Maroth was in '03 - a guy who is reliable enough to keep taking the ball but not good enough to win much at all with the support available.

So they signed Liriano so they can *finally* get Aoki?

Ugh.
