We finished up Captain Marvel last night and now have Endgame waiting for us.... not sure how to approach it, I heard it's about 3 hours?  I'm really excited for it.

I'm preaching the Marvel gospel to my friends who, like me, "don't do superhero movies".   After nearly ever movie, except Infinity War, we ended with both saying "that was fun".

I also want to watch again because bingeing tends to make them run together.... especially the mid credit easter eggs.....  It's fun putting all the bits together... like the end of Captain Marvel when she hands him the new 'pager'.....

Every movie had a different theme to it... like a callback to a different genre of movies.  An 80's teen movie?  A 90's pulp fiction type?  Who'd have thought that 25+ comic book movies with the same basic structure could all feel refreshing and different?  That's talent.  It helps to have one creative voice over all of it and still letting the writers and directors do their thing.

"Cap, on your left"

I think I've watched that scene 25 times in the last week.  What a great movie experience.  It's been a very long time since I got that kind of excitement and adrenaline from something like that...

Another favorite was when Captain Marvel takes the glove from Spiderman and he asks how she's going to get through that, and the other female avengers surround her and say "Don't worry, she's got help".  I didn't spot it initially but my wife blurted out "Girl power!" and I can only imagine the pride many young girls felt.  They didn't overdo it but it's something they notice and need to see.

I'm so glad we did this.  Watching Spiderman tonight, I'm interested in seeing why this is included in phase 3 since Endgame seems a logical conclusion.  Then I'm going back and watching these again...

All in all I think Dr. Strange is my favorite movie and character.

I watched The Big Lebowski spin-off movie "The Jesus Rolls" the other day (had free Showtime for a weekend).   Very strange movie.  I really can't tell if I loved it or hated it.  No real plot to it, just a bunch of vignettes, kind of like Napoleon Dynamite.

I watched this last night via Amazon Prime, suprisingly good.

Definitely. I watched it about a week ago and really enjoyed it.

This could probably go in 4 or 5 different threads.    No matter where it should go it is absolutely amazing and the best 5 minutes you can spend watching anything today!

Edit:  see direct link below from Yoda. I tried to post it direct but messed up.

apropos of this I came across a fairly recent interview done with McCartney and it was interesting to hear how mellow he has become. To hear him talk about the Beatles in that segment you would be at a loss to understand why the band ever broke up.  Obviously with two of them gone the reluctance to speak ill of the dead or rehash old grievances is natural enough,  but it was still amusing to hear things depicted in retrospect as such a love fest. :ponder:

He did admit to being the one that pushed the band hardest to work, which I have also heard Harrison say, but in somewhat less a positive context than Sir Paul put it!

Watch Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom on Netflix. Some powerful performances including Chadwick Boseman’s last performance. Knowing what we know about Boseman now makes his acting even more dynamic

I didn't want it to end.

supposedly george is playing rhythm on 'get back' because he had just come back from quitting the group and John had already worked out a lead in his absence.

Wonder Woman 1984 was not a good movie.  Don't want to spoil anything but it sucked.

Spoiler

One spoiler.  Lynda Carter was in it and damn does she look good.  I was shocked when I looked it up and Wikipedia said she is 69.

Godzilla vs. Kong had its release date bumped up a few months.  HBOMax will release late March.  Still no trailer and I can't seem to find if it will be in 4K or not.  Wonder Woman 1984 was the first 4K movie/show on HBOMax so hopefully they continue that trend.

Maybe go back and release all of their old stuff in 4k.  Even Seinfeld is going to be 4k when it goes to Netflix, lets go HBO.

The Sopranos movie also got bumped.

How do you even contemplate a Soprano's movie without Tony? Hollywood just has no respect.

Tony's in it.... it's a prequel set in the late 60's... called the Many Saints of Newark.  It's about Dickie Moltosanti and Johnny Boy Soprano.  Gandolfini's son plays a young Tony.  Looks just like him.

I wouldn't say he looks much like him. It's usually better to just focus on finding the best actor for the part. We'll see.

Think that got moved back.  Godzilla vs Kong was moved up two months.

Warner Brothers is releasing all of their 2021 movies on HBOMax the same day they are in theaters.  I think HBO was pushing for them to fill a hole in the schedule.

I always get hyped by these trailers.  Then the trailer is the best thing about the movie.

I didn't notice this until I read comments.  Spoilers.

Spoiler

At the 3 second mark where you are looking up the stairs.  That looks like Mechagodzilla.  Later in the trailer you also see his schematics on a video board behind an actor.

Also, it sounds like the toys have already leaked and there is a MG toy.  So Godzilla and Kong vs MG and some unknown monster?
