Game 55: Pistons @ Hawks

I actually think Drummond is becoming underrated at this point and there would be a lot of teams that would love to have him.  He was putting up big numbers even before the trade.  I would actually hate to trade him because he appears to be taking his defense from decent to good to very good.  We would probably have an easier time trading Drummond than we we would Blake Griffin.

We'll see what the market is for DAJ, and go from there.  It is hard to imagine anyone taking on Drummond's contract right now, unless they missed out on DAJ and want the next best thing and **** the cap.

Drummond being undesirable to most of the L isn't a reflection of his performance, but of the fiscal mentality of the L ATM.

If your offense has Blake Griffin attempting 9 threes, and Jameer Nelson attempting multiple long 2s, talent is not your biggest problem

Agreed, it is coaching.

SVG has Ennis and Bullock both having good shooting games but where are their looks in the 4th?

PG play is a huge problem right now, though.

Wasting 6 seconds just so they can call a timeout seems so dumb there, just foul the guy

Classic Pistons game. On the road against an awful team and they play zero defense and get torched. Pathetic. No playoffs

I see 8 teams in the East better than the Pistons and 6 they are better than. That leaves them in the absolute worst spot you can possibly be in.

It is unfortunate we have to count on Reggie to bail the Pistons out of their ineptitude, but he's probably it.

Nice play out of the timeout allowing Schroeder to easily receive the ball.  No trade is going to fix stupid coaching.

Pistons really missing Reggie. Ish was totally abysmal out there today. He honestly was nothing but a negative

Pelicans and Hawks are home before the break. 2 MUST win games. Gotta get back over .500 before the break

Hawks score 118 points and shoot 49 percent.

Jesus H Christ. Isn’t SVG a defensive coach? Aren’t Ish and Johnson in there for defense? That’s brutal.

God the Pistons need a PG. Ish and Nelson? That’s the worst PG combo in the NBA right now. Need Jackson back or they’re finished.

Pistons have now lost 5 games to teams below 40 percent winning percentages on the year.

Orlando. Brooklyn. Chicago. Atlanta. Dallas.

Pistons have won 5 games against teams over 60 percent winning percentages on the year.

Golden State. Houston. Spurs. Cavs. Celtics.

I don't get Van Gundy. They had started getting a good O and D flow going near the end of the game with Stanley and Kinnard out there, both them scoring and fighting through screens well on the other end,  then he pulled them both.

I would love to see a lineup of Jackson, Kennard, Bullock, Tolliver, and Blake. Lots of shooting.

Let's face it, we overvalued the Pistons with their 5-0 start after the Blake trade.  4 of the wins were home games against bad teams on a back-to-back.  They are not that good.  Atlanta seemed their equal, and certainly played harder and smarter.

Ish Smith: Garbage. Nothing more needs saying.  When Reggie comes back, he should be #3 behind Jameer.

Blake Griffin: Horrible game, jacking up 3s and no inclination or confidence to go inside

Andre Drummond: Lethargic play, lackadaisical, can't hold on to the ball to save his life, constantly out of position for rebounds

Tolliver: Poor defense

Kennard: Nonchalant, needs to play as if it's not a pickup game against his high school pals

Positives:  Ennis, Jameer, Bullock

We need a buyout player to have any realistic chance at the playoffs.  Looks like Belinelli, Rose, Joe Johnson are all gone.  Who's next?  Isaiah and Tyreke Evans are probably not being bought out.  SVG needs firing if this team misses the playoffs.

They’re not getting any buyout guys. Why would any veteran join this team? Bad market, under .500 team. Battling for the 7-8 seed. Other teams offer a lot more.

Ish Smith is a good backup PG. But that’s what he is. He isn’t a starter.

Tolliver- poor defense? Huh? Did you watch him play against the league’s elite PF’s this year?

Drummond had a good game. Griffin struggled again.

This is a game they win if they had a starting caliber PG. He’s hurt.

I agree with this whole post 100%.

PG play was the ballgame today.  Ish is playing too much, Jameer looks out of condition.  Jackson will help Blake in that he'll help create offense--even if it is Reggie taking the bad shot instead of Blake.

The Pistons just play so backward. When they're on offense, there's no real movement, everyone is just ISOing

Yet on defense, they cheat and double on every screen or post play and give up wide open threes to the opponents who are moving around

Wouldn't they learn anything from watching film of this happening every game

The only problem with Toliver is that he can't play at the level he plays off the bench at starter's minutes.

You may be onto something.

Give Ennis and Kennard more minutes, budget Tolliver for when you *need* him
