Yeah, that team was on the cusp of a conference finals appearance for many years, in a much tougher conference.

That team also had a Hall of Fame point guard.

He looked like some crazy fan that got past security and ran onto the court.  Griffin didn't know what to do with him.

I seriously thought he was going to ask Blake if he could give him a massage with the way he was rubbing on him...what an intro to your new boss!

I'd take their run right now

They weren't that good this year without Paul.  You give me Chris Paul with Griffin, that is a different story.

You are preaching to the choir--my man loves him some Chris Paul.

I will say it has been nice to actually be getting some attention from the national and local media.  It's too bad that we are completely cash strapped because in the NBA stars attract other stars and if we had money to spend I think Blake is the type of player that could help bring another star here if only we had the money or assets.

I’d turn around and shop Drummond to make that happen.

So when Lebron James leaves Cleveland this offseason and signs with Detroit, will he just wear #6 rather than try to buy #23 off of Griffin?  Or is there going to be an upcoming Terry Mills #6 jersey retirement ceremony?

I figured I'd bump this thread since the trade is looking worse all the time.

It's interesting to see the different opinions on the trade at the time. I saw the red flags from the beginning (as a lot of us did) and lo and behold, it's a major anchor holding them down now more than ever. I predicted that it would be a regrettable trade in 2-3 years. Well I was wrong. They got only 1 good year out of him, a year that led to a 1st round sweep which was over from the opening tip of Game 1.

Can we pump the brakes on Griffin being a 3 point shooter?  He's shooting more 3s than in the past, but is 34.2% something to credit him with if the league average is 36.2%

Hey, fool, he hit 36.2% last season.

I'd say that there's a good chance that this blows up in their face and looks like a mistake in 2-3 years time, maybe sooner.  I actually like this move for the Clippers, they get rid of an injury prone max contract player who is entering the wrong side of his prime and was leading them nowhere anyway and get cap and draft pick flexibility for the future, a trade chip in Bradley to get another draft pick and a young scorer in Harris who can be part of a rebuilding process.

I honestly don't know how I feel about this.

I think strictly speaking on talent that Detroit did good here. But his age, salary, and durability really make me question this trade.

Now that the initial excitement has worn off, I don't like this trade at all.

Huge risk with almost no upside.  I'm a gambler, I love risk. But the ones I take have a big payoff at the end.  There is no payoff here and never will be.  It didn't improve their odds to win a title at all.  It didn't improve their odds to build a team capable of winning a title.

This will not end well.

Pretty much exactly how I still feel about it.

And I still stand by my Josh Smith comment.

We're paying him. That ******* should at least have to park cars at the new arena.

Tater doing some foreshadowing.

LMAO, Sully just mentioned to Valenti on the Ticket that Derrick Rose has played in more games than Blake Griffin over the past three seasons.

i still feel the same way as i felt before.

the team was going nowhere before the trade, but the trade made them interesting for a few minutes, with the upside of maybe winning a couple playoff games if griff stayed healthy.

that was fine with me.

until the pistons draft and develop their own talent better, they'll continue to go nowhere.
