this is just too funny.

it could also a large problem, because now they have probably made the structure too unstable for workers to go back into it to do whatever needs to be done to finish the job.

This was my first thought.  Cannot send anyone in.  Wrecking ball from the outside?  What a mess.  Sums up the Lions millenia of failure pretty nicely actually.

This was my one and only time at the dome.  Long haul from Cornhole, but fun, until the fumes got so bad.

That clip reminded me of going to a monster truck rally at the dome when I was super young.  I do not recall who I went with..dad or older brothers most likely, but I DO recall waking up in the middle of night crying because my ears hurt soo much.  Probably got permanent hearing damage that night.

Yea, but it wasn't from the fumes.  :-)

A couple of guys we knew raced.  The yellow Zero car was from Cornhole at the time.

I grew up in Ann Arbor so it was quite a trek to get to the Silverdome... But here's a couple of things I remember

- saw a couple of Pistons games there, including one against the Bucks where we had great seats, and it was a good game.  I remember an outlet pass at Terry Cummings in the back of his head and that got a big laugh out of the crowd

- saw a couple of lions games including one against the Packers and their fans were even more drunken fools than our fans were. Rodney Peete was the QB....every time Barry touched the ball the place went completely crazy.

- saw Rush there for The Division Bell Tour in the early 90s.  Great set.

- saw Pink Floyd there.... the dude sitting next to me was extremely high and obnoxious but the show was great anyway.  We were way up in the bowl, but we had friends who had great floor seats ... The only consolation for us in the nose bleeds was that they had no hearing for the next few days.

Saw a couple of Pistons games there in the 80's including one against the pre-Jordan Bulls featuring Orlando Woolridge. He had about 5 dunks in the game, since that was the extent of his range. And a finals game against the Lakers the year they lost. Our seats were in the upper deck so far away and above the floor that watching the game was a chore.

Also so a few Lions games, probably 4 or so and I believe they were all losses. One was the playoff game where Favre hit Sheppard in the corner of the end zone for the win.

Oh and I had a classmate from high school get killed at a Rolling Stones concert there. He fell from the second deck.

Won't miss the Silverdome.

Since Oakland County public schools didn't offer much in the way of junior high school football, I had to go to Union Lake to play for a team there.  The league we were in played its final game of the season at the Silverdome.

It took one dive to the turf to realize exactly how hard and unforgiving it was.
