UM B-Ball 17-18

Recommended Posts

I was reading up on the exhibition win the other night over Grand Valley St and a few names popped up that I knew nothing about.  Sounds like the Charles Simmons kid might be legit, and I am kind of embarrassed this was the first I had heard about him.  Usually I follow the program pretty closely.  I'll take a transfer from Kentucky. especially if he will be replacing Zak Irvin.  I also read that Eli Brooks is a shooter and will be a part of the rotation behind Simpson.  Teske at 7'1 will get some run.  Looks like they will be a young/athletic team with some growing pains along the way.  Should still be pretty solid IMO.   Anybody else know a thing or two about the team and how they are projected to play this year?

Really hoping Simpson learned a lot last year & can run the point.  Having Wagner back will help.

You're combing two people.

There is Charles Mattehwss, a transfer from Kentucky, and Jaaron Simmons, a grad transfer pg from Ohio.

No. Simpson was a Freshman point guard last year.  He's a sophomore now.

I think he was referring to the first post that listed Charles Simmons as a player.

And Simpson is not Jaaron Simmons, the point guard transfer from Ohio.

There were two posts before mine. One of them mentioned Charles Simmons.

Then there was yours that mentioned Simpson and Wagner with no mention of Matthews or Simmons.

How is this confunsing to you?

Charles Zavier Simmons is going to score a lot of points, and is also related to professor Z.

Matthew Simpson will be pretty good, too.

I don’t think I’ve seen a game yet this year. Maybe a few minutes of the CMU game?

it sure sounds like they aren’t very good this year. Simpson and Simmons aren’t cutting it at PG apparently. Matthews had a good night.

They will have their chance to add some good wins this year. A loss to a bad or mediocre LSU team in November in Hawaii probably isn’t going to make or break their resume. Go out and be above .500 in the big ten.

what it does is prevent them from playing notre dame and potentially wichita state.  ans their schedule is so bad and full of bad teams that not playing a couple good teams will kill their rpi if theyre on the bubble.

this could be a big loss.

Yes. That is the bigger issue.

Beilein really needs to stop scheduling sub 250 RPI teams. Replace them with like 125 RPI teams and you'll still have your cupcakes, but they won't kill your RPI.

Also, the committee needs to stop being so dumb and using RPI.

they barely beat vcu.

they'll really need to upset north carolina to have a tourney chance.

What a terrible showing against OSU. UM dominated the first half and led by 20 at one point. Ended up getting crushed in the second half. Wagner played perhaps the worst half of basketball I’ve ever seen.

NIT!  NIT!  NIT!

I'm excited for next year's freshman class, this team stinks.
