First of all, Deuce is back.

Second of all, 27-year-old Panamanian RH reliever (ex-closer) Enrique Burgos is signed out of the Braves Org.

Third of all, according to CanTig, someone named Jose Diaz is signed.  Supposedly an International FA.  No clue if he's 16 years old or an older guy that's been released.  Also no clue what position he plays.

Now CanTig is telling us that Diaz is a 17-yr-old RHP.

Diaz will be 17 until suddenly he's 24.

According to Anthony Fenech, Rondon is a goner.

I have to stop now, as I cannot see through my tears well enough to continue....................

Don't weep for him, Boston will pick him up.

I have to say, I’m glad to be able to stop rooting for Rondon.

If he turns into a good reliever I’m going to be very angry tho

In order for him to turn into a good reliever he would have to do 3 things:

1)  Stop being Incredibly Stupid.  This is very difficult, I'm told

2)  Stop being an a**hole.  This is almost impossible.  I speak from experience.

3)  Lose 700 pounds.

So, don't hold your breath.

So Leonys Martin is the new CF, with Mahtook in LF and...........................

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO........I don't want a DH playing RF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There, now that I've had my rant, C Derek Norris is signed to a minor-league contract with an invite.

That brings the non-roster invitees to 8:  3 pitchers (Burgos, Comer, Montgomery), 1 catcher (Norris), 1 1b/3b (Espinal) and 3 OF (Huffman, Deuce and Goodrum...who also plays 2b).

Zack Cox (one of my faves...don't ask me why) re-signed.  Cards' 1st-round pick in 2010.  Career went south.  For Erie last year, 16 starts at 3b, 14 at 2b, and 46 at DH.  I guess that about says it.

Oh, and he pitched twice (good chance they weren't save opportunities).

And righty Mike Fiers quietly slips into the rotation.

Puts the 40-man at 40 (unless they don't announce the signing until after the Rule V draft).

Victor Alcantara clears waivers and is bumped to Toledo.  Room now for a rule V pick.

So, Kinsler goes to the Angels for 18-yr-old rhp Wilkel Hernandez (Venezuela) and 23 yr-old lefty double-A OF Troy Montgomery.

In the rule V draft, Tigers pop 23 yr-old Venezuelan OF Victor Reyes.

In the minor-league phase 3 guys are lost:  c/1b Will Allen (AA),  lhp Locke St. John (W. Mich), and GCL Dominican rhp Francisco German.

In more exciting news, my cat just started grooming herself.

The Kinsler backfill begins:  milb free agent 2b/ss Ronny Rodriguez signed out of the Cleve org.  Dominican, played last 2 years in AAA, some pop, will turn 26 in April.

Tigers nab another 1st-round pick, Mariners' top pick in '07, rhp Phillippe Aumont.  Career went South, played in the Indies last year.  Turns 29 on Jan 7.  milb deal.

Couple more AAA/AA signings:

lhp reliever Will ("Stringbean") Lamb....he's 6'6, 180...Rangers' #2 pick in '11.

Speedy cf Kenny Wilson, Jays' #2 pick in '08.

Also, Tommy Collier finally gets his pink slip. (no, he's not a cross-dresser...the other kind of pink slip)

Brendan Ryan 2.0 signed, by the name of Pete Kozma.  Turns 30 in April.  Very clever of the Tigers to be stockpiling Cardinals' #1 picks.  They just re-signed Zack Cox, Cards' #1 pick in 2010, while Kozma is their #1 pick of 2007.

In other news, another centerfielder for the Toledo mix:  Herlis Rodriguez, lefty, turns 24 in June.  Venezuelan out of Philly org.

Tigers sign the mysterious Orbandy Rodriguez, 6'6 Dominican righty, who will turn 30 next September.  Pitched in the DSL in '08 and '09,  released by AZ, then no record that I can find for '10, '11, '12, relieved in low minors in '13 for the Cubs, released again, and no record for '14, '15, '16, or '17.   I think the only reason he was signed is because the Tigers had only 6 Rodriguez's (Elvin, Hector, Jesus, Jose, Ronny, and Herlis) in the Org, and as the old saying goes "You can never have enough Rodriguez's".

Have seriously fallen behind in transactions, but can't help but post the really big news.  I thought the addition of a 2nd DSL team would mean the elimination of the GCL East team, but apparently not:

Ten teams!  (I know it's about quality, not quantity, but let's not be unkind).
