Mark this down as a win, Buck Farmer will NOT let Boyd overtake him the AceRace.

My take exactly. Farmer's direct competition brought his A++ game yesterday. What are you bringing today Buck?

Maybe Buck gets the no-no.

Tigers Job posting over on Fangraphs for Analytics intern for 2018. Do all the MLB teams advertise for analytics jobs on Fangraphs? Not sure I've seen that before. You certainly wouldn't have seen the Tigers advertising over there 2-3 years ago.

Mike Rojas will not return as Toledo manager.

Wonder if Parrish moves up from Erie. That would be possible I imagine.

He lost his team.  Deuce walked all over him.

Do other teams have a more effective culture, or approach, or system, whatever, to develop players than the Tigers? Or,  do we just tend to feel sorry for ourselves and fans of all teams do this? Over the years I've just come to expect next to nothing to emerge from the Tigers system.   But maybe every team only has their version of Verlander every 10 years or so and it just seems that everybody else is doing better than our team.  In general, it seems that the tiger system produces day-to-day players, but not many out right megastars.  I only have feelings to back this up, no data.

I don't think people are upset over the lack of mega stars. I think it's more about the failure to produce a fair amount of the solid every day players. That's the reason we have had to go out and sign so many free agents to remain competitive in the past.

I don't know if we are necessarily worse than average though. It could be that the forfeiture of draft picks and trading away good AAA level prospects like Travis and Suarez and Perez is the bigger issue.

We also haven't invested heavily in international players when we had the chance before the caps were put in place. We blew the entire budget and then some on major league payroll. We acted like a big money team at the major league level, but not in the other areas, including analytics.

Thank you. I always value your opinion.  That makes good sense. I guess I bemoan and absence of really big stars, but a dearth of meat and potato day in day out guys is probably the more significant defect.

This has been my main issue over the last 10 years and moreso recently. I was never a fan so much of DD. The reason being what you stated above.

I think this is true, especially the last part.  Also IIRC we focused our higher draft picks on pitching rather than position players.

And when we did pick a position player, it was a catcher like half the time.

A lot of the picks were just obviously bad picks at the time they were made.

Matt Joyce has 24 HRs?

He doesn't get 19 games against the tigers or he would have more.
