Yeah if they don't pull a Faedo on him I'd like for him to start at Erie or West Michigan at the worst, see how he handles that competition.

If he is a guy that could be part of a ML bullpen right now, then I wouldn’t mind seeing them put him in Erie after the draft and see what he has against advanced prospects.

If he looks ready a year from now, so be it.

I'm gonna guess Lakeland.

Let him get his feet wet against big league pitchers while having the benefits of being in TigerTown. Then next year he can be at Lakeland/Erie to start and make a spot start or two at the ML level.

Rogers was always a long shot with his nostrils.

You're not being fair to his neck.  If you close your fist and pop it down on the top of his head at exactly the right spot, his head will disappear entirely into his neck.  It makes a "boop" sound while it is doing that.

I still say that our best course may be to draft Mize and flip him to a contender next season.  I'm sure contenders would be lining up for 6+ years of a pitcher as ready as Mize.

Well, s***, if we as a rebuilding franchise are going to flip our stud 1-1 pick in exchange for volume of unknown quality, then what are we trying to accomplish here? And what contender is going to trade minor leaguers to obtain another minor leaguer to slot at the top of their rotation for a playoff run? That sounds like something an OOTP owner would do as a fun experiment.

Besides Mize, Detroit also is considering Georgia Tech catcher Joey Bart, Wichita State third baseman Alec Bohm, Florida right-hander Brady Singer and left-hander Matt Liberatore out of Mountain Ridge (Glendale, Ariz.) High School.

Either Bart or Bohm immediately would become the best position prospect in the Tigers' pitching-heavy system. The Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, Bart is the best catcher in a Draft thin at that position. He's one of the top power hitters available and has made himself into a solid defender behind the plate.

From http://lastwordonbaseball.com/2018/05/30/nick-madrigal-2018-mlb-draft-profile/:

Madrigal is a dream player for major league scouts, mostly because he can do anything. He has an aggressive offensive approach combined with a trained batting eye. His bat speed and bat control are both elite. He has blistering speed, and John Sickels with MinorLeagueBall.com sees Madrigal as “an ideal combination of instincts, athleticism, and aggression.” He is an above-average defender at second base and grades as a future perennial Gold Glove winner.

In short, Madrigal checks all the boxes. Scouts know this. They have known it going back to when Madrigal was drafted in 2015 out of high school. Combine that with his track record at Oregon State and Madrigal is the best college player in the draft. Plus, Madrigal will only need a small window of time to develop in the minor leagues before making his ascension to major league baseball.

Disappointed that Madrigal is not on that list. He's who I'd like to see taken if not Mize.

How could a Tiger fan be happy with Madrigal when we've had Gary Sutherland?

He hasn't been on for months, yet many keep talking about him.

Listened to a bit of the latest MLB Pipeline podcast. Callis and Mayo discuss where Mize would currently place on the top 100 list.

Mayo thought around 20, Callis 25.

MTS posters don't need no list.  We talk about whoever we want to talk about.

Especially Adduci.  Speaking of whom, it's about time that little Adducis start to hit the age of 17 - 18.  Why aren't we hearing about them?  Perhaps they go by other last names?

Latest Mock from FG:

Quote

Below is what will probably be our final full-text mock draft for 2018. Unless, over the weekend, something happens that necessitates longer explanation, a final mock on Monday will probably just have names and skeleton text. We think Casey Mize remains the favorite to go first, with the only potential pitfalls being a Mize injury at regionals or that Detroit reaches a breaking point with Mize’s bonus demands. We don’t think that scenario is likely, but that it has something like a 5-10% chance to happen at this point, so we’ve included the way we think the dominoes fall if it does happen, which ends up being only four picks changing. Remember, you can learn about the players we talk about here on our 2018 Draft Board.

1. Detroit Tigers – Casey Mize, RHP, Auburn

Less likely alternate scenario: Joey Bart, C, Georgia Tech

If something happens with Mize, then we think the pick is Joey Bart, but ultimately we think Detroit will pick Mize and sign him for a bonus between $7.4 million (slot at 2) and $8.1 million (slot at 1), likely toward the lower end of that range. The Tigers have been tied to Georgia prep center fielder Parker Meadows, Pennsylvania prep center fielder Mike Siani, and Mississippi prep righty J.T. Ginnfor their second pick. Wisconsin OF Jarred Kelenichas been mentioned as a name they’d like to move back there as well, but we don’t think that’s feasible as he seems signable and has too many suitors between here and Detroit’s next pick.

A few will be drafted next week. They will be tough to spot by name, though. A quick way to narrow it down would be to identify the ones with different last names, either by being born to single mothers who then later married, or to married women who then divorced and went back to their maiden name. But it’s not foolproof. There are obviously many single mothers that didn’t marry (usually if the son turned out more like deuce Sr). And then there are the sons that were born to married couples but assumed to be those of the father.

I heard a couple of them are ranked pretty high on the Tigers draft list.

Edit: Shelton beat me to it.

This is true.  The only thing is Deuce Sr is almost as hard to resist for some women as his son.  On the surface, he has no redeeming qualities but he has this magnetism that keeps certain women - like his wife - coming back again and again.

Mize did well in his final game, which was a rainy/wet one. Some highlights from JJ Cooper, who was there:
