On Kiley McDaniels latest chat he was asked if there was any minor leaguer that reminded him of Baez and Paredes was one of the two he named.  He said he doesn't have the bat speed of Baez but he has the ability to play all around the diamond and has similar athletic ability and hitting ability.

im as big of a paredes fan as there is, have been since the trade.  but if he's as athletic as baez, then why cant he play short?

im very dubious that anyone is as athletic as javy baez.  baez is a freak of nature.

They haven't moved him off short officially....yet.

I have season tickets to the Flying Tigers. Paredes is not a SS and wonder if he will be able to play an average 2B. Guy can hit though.

Larry

Agility? Arm? Glove?   Is it coachable or is he an OF?

If he's Dan Uggla out there - not horrid but definitely not good, I'll take that as long as he hits as advertised.

I could live with that.

What?

Why rebuild to the same mentality as before ..a decent hitting team with serious defensive flaws?

Is that what the fans really want ..again?

That mentality got them into post-season frequently.  Ideally, I want balance, but if I have to choose, I am going with offense.

Shifting, combined with second base defense in general, makes it easier to hide a mediocre infielder at 2B.

But I think paredes is probably slated for 3b.

Looking forward to 2020.

He's better than that. Range will be the issue

A decade of being in contention? Pass.

Hard to trust the eyes as much about shortstops after watching Peralta play it for a few years.

Peralta was an unusual case.  I think he must have been very good at positioning himself.  He really looked bad out there, but the numbers consistently said otherwise.

Agreed. And move Candy to 1B. Thats when Miggy will be Dhing.

I though Nick was our 1b of the future.

Rebuild not even off the ground and already we have roster traffic jams....

By the time the Tigers might seriously contend again .. Candy may be gone too.

So we would be rebuilding the rebuild?  When will we know the 1st try has failed?
