what is the point of moving a guy for two games? Anticipating a move that adds someone at AA?

The Mud Hens are fighting for a playoff spot. Gotta throw your affiliates a bone every now and then.

I agree that Paredes has played like a surefire top 100 prospect and he has been one of the real bright spots this year, along with Manning, Daz, Wenceel, Castro and a few others.

2021 and 2022 should be fun years to watch the Tigers.  Similar to the 1980-83 teams.

Except no strike and we'll win it all.

I've been a Tiger fan for a long time I can't remember the last time we had multiple position players on performance tears like Cameron, Paredes and Deathrage have been. Cameron did come back to earth some, but has still had a great develop year, and I suppose given the typical OPS drop from AAA to the majors, if Candelario had gotten the addition time at AAA that most teams might have given him, he'd probably be tearing it up there as well.

Without checking too carefully, I am going to guess Howard Johnson, Glenn Wilson and Mike Laga.  I do remember getting pretty excited about those three at the same time and I don't remember it happening again between then and now.

On a side note, it was nice to hear Avila say today they know they are going to have to supplement what they have

Also I have about no faith left Hill will amount to anything. Just go ahead and remove him.

What about Faith Hill?

You left out Matt Manning. Also, perhaps Parker Meadows will be part of the outfield, instead of Hill.

I’m still hopeful with Hill.  He’s already Gary Pettis.  He still might turn out to be more.

Hill is one of the safest bets to make the majors in our system. He'll make the bench as a defensive replacement and pinch runner.

Gary Pettis is a bit of a reach I think.  His minor league OBP was .384, and Hill's is .314.  They both have high base-stealing efficiency percentages, but Gary was a lot more likely to get on base.  The Tigers' pitchers loved having Gary in center, they wouldn't have cared if he ever got on base at all.  And a good thing too because he absolutely stunk at the plate in his first Tigers season, when he was 30.  But at 31 he had a nice year with a .375 OBP, and he scored 77 runs in 120 games.  I just don't see Derek ever getting beyond Erie.  But I'd love to wrong.

It's hard not to give up on guys that miss as much time as Hill has. It's taken him 4 years to maybe be at AA next spring. OTOH, he did get in 350 AB for only the second time in his career, and he did begin to improve steadily - his BA increased every month this season, hitting 275 for August.

Yes I think that the consensus when he was drafted was that he could be a nice player if he could hit a little bit.  I really looks like he can't.  He managed  .367 OBP at West Michigan last year in 35 games, but other than that he's only been over .324 once and that was at Gulf Coast in 2014 in 28 games.  His standard OBP looks like about .310, so that's really not enough for a guy who has no power at all.  Right now he is a 22-year-old outfielder who is exactly the right age for his level, with only a .630 OPS, and when Daz was there earlier in the year, Daz played center and Hill had to play somewhere else.  I'm sure that he's a nice kid but he's never going to make it to Toledo unless they see some long-term org role for him now.

Daz played center because he's actually gonna be a starting ML CFer. Hill is still a better defensive CFer than Cameron though.

Thanks—forgetting Manning is a glaring omission.  He should be our #2 guy.

I don’t think Meadows will be ready for MLB by 2021, but would love to be wrong about that.

He has had a great season, but I’ve not bought in yet.  Hope to be pleasantly surprised.
