Brad Ausmus - Are his days numbered?

Recommended Posts

Funny as it may sound, right now in Brad's managerial career is when I would want to hire him. He's 4 yrs into a career, he's manged good teams and bad. He's made mistakes for sure, but he's improved quite a bit, IMO. The experience he was missing when we hired him he has now.

This may be unpopular to say, but to let him go now after 4 years of on the job training on our dime would be a mistake.

I would rather have an inanimate garden gnome managing than Ron Gardenhire.

He will teach them how to bunt and hit and run.  No more home runs!

There's some advertising revenue opportunity there.  Travelocity can sponsor it.  The Tigers can stick the gnome in the dugout.  And they can resign MartinezJD with the funds.

No way would I have a bobblehead manage.

Be realistic.

No manager couldn't win with this team.  There is only so much a manager can do.  This team stinks.

This pretty much sums up the current state of affairs.

I think Brad will be gone on his own at the end of the year. The only question now is how many seasons it will take to be a legitimate playoff team.

I would predict he'll be gone at the ASB if we don't sweep Cleveland.

Except that I think for a whole bunch of reasons, most guys probably become better in part because they got fired - so his next team is still more likely to get the benefit than the Tigers.

I would have thought that Ausmus would have been gone well before now.  But at the same time, I can't particularly blame him for 6 out of 7 SP's sporting a ERA of 5 or higher. The SP simply imploded this year.  That isn't Brad's fault.  Some pretty bad luck involved though, just looking at ERA vs FIP... so maybe I can find a way to blame Brad for not having a lucky horseshoe in the clubhouse or something. I'm going to work on that connection.

I hope brad sticks around. I think Avila will offer him a four year deal to stay at the end of the season, and he will take it.

I really just want the opportunity to trade Ausmus to the astros or padres.

They will just end up getting him back later in a seven player deal where none of the players amount to anything.

Where's Randy Smith at?  Is he still giving Macarena lessons at San Diego's minor league training facility?  If so, there's your trading partner right there.  The two of them could teach meringue.
