Some dates for early entrants.

You have to announce your intentions to enter the draft by April 23.

The NBA allows players to withdraw from the draft up to 10 days before the draft.  This really only applies to foreign players because...

...The NCAA has a rule if you want to retain your eligibility, you have to withdraw by May 24th.

Players who declare can work out for teams and attend the draft combine and still remain eligible as long as they withdraw by the 24th.

The new DE Mock Draft came out yesterday.

http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2017/

This will be another very young draft, again.

The first 11 players are either college freshmen or internationals who would be freshmen in the States.

Of these elite 11, two will be 20 by the NBA Draft.

The 12th-ranked player is a 22-year-old junior and you won't find another player that old until 27th, where that player is also a junior.

The first college senior is slated to go 33rd.

Michigan has zero players slated by DE to be drafted, Michigan State's Miles Bridges is slotted to go 11th.

Kentucky's backcourt is slotted 5th and 6th.

DE has the Pistons drafting Texas C Jarrett Allen, who is 19 and 7'5" if you include his afro.  His wingspan is also 7'5", but this kid is skinny and slow.  Decent touch from outside.

Something to remember about the mock drafts on DE.

Right now they are just ranking the players from best prospect to worst. No team needs are applied. They don't do that until after the lottery when the draft order is finalized.

I'm thinking about entering the draft.  Who's with me?

Seems like every year someone that hasn't played since eighth grade will declare.

This poses an interesting series of questions for me.

who is . . .

--The oldest player to be drafted

--The oldest player to be drafted since the merger of the leagues

--The oldest player to be drafted since high school players weren't allowed to enter the league

--The oldest player drafted to make an AS team.

More importantly, is Biggs just another score-first combo guard the Pistons need to be weary of?

Right on.

I was just shocked how bad Allen looked as a potential 13th pick in the draft.

well, since bad players seem to be the only kind svg drafts, sign us up!

hey, i see we dont have a second round pick.  that will save us hundreds of posts arguing about why svg took some older guy nobody thought would be drafted over other guys with actual potential.

I have no idea if he's a prospect or not but watching the Michigan game last night they talked about how Oregon's PG was 25.  If he is good enough to get drafted would that make him the oldest?

Yeah, as a double-transfer Ennis is a super-duper senior.  Isn't he 26?  I don't think he will get drafted, but I do think he will get a 10-day contract at some point over the next few years.

Connie Hawkins was pretty old as well.

Hawkins, Rodman, and Dikembe were all 25.

The oldest I'm aware of is Bernard James.  Picked by Cleveland in the 2nd round a few years ago.  He was 27.

Great story behind James, glad you brought him up.
