Jim Caldwell to return next year

On Caldwell and Caldwell vs. Quinn, I think in general, Caldwell has had to deal with a drain of talent that is incredibly rare. In 2014 he had all 4 of Ansah,Suh,Levy and Calvin performing at a high level. All 4 have at some point under his short regime been all pro caliber. In 2016 he got contributions from none of them, and as Buddha noted we had zero top 98 players.

I don't think its unreasonable to say Caldwell coached better than Quinn this past season. Keep in mind Shanahan had full control of the offense and Quinn's D let up 50 more points than the Lions' craptacular D and they won 2 more regular season games. Maybe Quinn has more to do with Atlanta having an elite offense than I understand though. I don't think a lot of coaches go to the playoffs with this year's Lions roster though, health included.
