According to the US Senate and Trumps lawyers it’s no big deal if true

Draining that swamp by *checks notes* commuting the sentences of corrupt Illinois politicians

Commuting the sentence of a Democratic governor who sold Obama's senate seat. I cannot wait to hear the Trumpers defend that one.

Trump Tower in Chicago was built while Blagojevich was governor. Perhaps Trump owed Blagojevich a favor?

Blago was also a cast member on a season of Celebrity Apprentice.

The cronyism is almost textbook.

Is the Kwame Kilpatrick pardon coming next?

Be interesting to see how that would play out in MI....  a lot of POC voters think he got a harsh sentence for his crimes..... but then you have the Macomb Co. voter to worry about pissing off...

I lived in Detroit during the Kwame years. I was a supporter early on of Kwame. Kwame was very much a Trump like figure. He had his base but he also had his opponents. He lost the primary in 2005 and somehow won the runoff. The city was pretty divided on Kwame.

I wonder if the Blago commutation, despite whatever personal relationship Trump may or may not have with him, wouldn't have happened if Illinois was a swing state. Because I'm guessing that the move will be widely unpopular with folks in Illinois, yet outside of the Illinois GOP (which Trump doesn't care about most likely), I doubt there's anyone specifically who is gonna feel any political blowback from it.

You get a pardon, and you get a pardon. All Rich Felons get a pardon

Kwame and Trump couldn't be more similar. Kwame blamed Dennis Archer for all of city's financial issues and not his convoluted pension deal while taking credit for the stadiums and casinos started by Archer. Sounds like Trump and his relationship with Obama?

Trump had his fixer in Cohen and Kwame had Bobby Ferguson.

Trump had an affair with a porn star and tried to silence her, Kwame had an affair with a stripper but was more effective at silencing her.

The friends and family plan was no secret in Detroit city hall where Kwame gave jobs to unqualified friends and family. Bernard was also involved in Kwame's dealings, much like the deal Jared, Ivanka and the rest of the Trump children got.

All of their opponents were the enemy. Kwame would claim he is being lynched and Bernard claimed they were being treated like Jews during the Holocaust where Trump is the perpetual victim.

Both were privileged but have you believe they were just like you and me. Kwame was the son of a congresswoman and had it better than most Detroiters. He wasn't this "yalls boi" like he made you believe. Same with Trump being born into wealth.

Seems natural Trump will pardon Kwame. Only difference between Kwame and Trump is that Kwame is smarter and more charismatic than Trump.
