Saw both the Amy Adams flicks that are out this week. Nocturnal Animals and Arrivals. Both were excellent. The latter may get nominated.

Yeah, I like Arrival a lot. Very smart movie.

Is good.

Anyone see the trailer for trainspotting 2?

Ooh, I was on that tram at the end of August :-)

I think I'll enjoy that - I'd not seen the trailer so thanks for pointing out that it's out there. Looks grand.

John Wick is one of my favorite movies since I have seen it.  I watch it pretty regularly.  I love it.  I was a little iffy on a 2nd one because I did not want the first one ruined.  Looks like I have no reason to worry.

I'm really excited about Christopher Nolan's WWII movie "Dunkirk"

A couple updates:

WHY HIM?: I went in expecting to be disappointed but actually really liked this. There were some genuinely hilarious moments in the movie. And as much as I've always want to hate James Franco, one in a while a role is perfect for him, and this was one of those. He was great. The story was as cliche as it gets, as it Brayan Cranston's character, but it was fun anyhow.

LA LA LAND: Obviously a terrific movie, if you can tolerate musicals. I like them, and I loved this. I thought Emma Stone was an odd cast choice but she was charming as can be. She's just so likable. Gosling is a bit of a douche but he was an obvious choice to play that character.

Gonna have to check out both. La La Land was on my list, but the reviews I've been hearing including this make me think I should hit the theaters for it. Why Him will be DVD, but I like a good dumb comedy

We saw Why Him? over the holiday's. I went in expecting very little, so I kept the bar low and therefore I wasn't disappointed. I thought all the sports memorabilia in Bryan Cranston's characters office being local to Grand Rapids and Detroit was pretty cool. I wonder if someone from Grand Rapids worked on the movie. Not a whole lot of people outside of GR and Tiger fans know about the Whitecaps.

So the new m night movie SPLIT came out over the weekend and the ending is making headlines. I was unlikely to see it in the theater, so I was curious to look up what the twist was. I won't post it here, but knowing the twist makes me want to see it even more.

Was this on anyone's radar and did you see it?

I see a post above about John wick. I finally saw it last night. What a great movie.

Maybe it should be its own thread, but man this year's Oscar movies are pretty uninspiring. Not saying none of them are good, but it feels like the most forgettable group I can remember

We saw M. Knight Shamalayn's new movie Split over the weekend. I'd give it a thumbs up.

I purposely skipped any reviews and any type of information about it, except for seeing the score on Rotten Tomatoe's, which was positive. Shamalayns movies, when they work, are best to go in without knowing anything first, I think.

I'm one of those rare people that usually end up liking Shamalayn's  movies. I look forward to illegally pirating it.

2 big head scratchers for me was The Happening and even more so Lady in the water..I liked most of his other movies.  BIG fan of Signs and I really enjoyed the Village. Never saw the Devil one.

Yah, those two were a different level of terrible. Everything since THe Village has been terrible though. Last Airbender and After Earth are a couple more good examples. SOunds like he rebounded though. Never saw Devil either I don't think
