John Turturro is creating and directing a spin-off of The Big Lebowski, and bring back his Jesus character.

This certainly won't be a blockbuster, and could be terrible, but I'm looking forward to more of his character.

Interesting. In an interview a few years ago he seemed opposed to the idea.

The Cohens were against it, but Torturro has been lobbying for a spin-off for a long time. He finally decided to just make one himself.

Gotta say I am starting to get fatigued with comic book/super hero movies.  Also the remakes and retreads.  That list is all either comic book/super hero movies or remakes/sequels to old movies.

I am not at the old man 'I am never going to the movies again!' stage, but I am getting tired of the same thing over and over.

When was the last time we got a really good action movie that was not based on a comic book or retread?

I hope we get a Dude cameo. And hopefully it's Halloween and he's in costume as a black soldier and he goes around saying "I'm the dude playing The Dude disguised as another dude."

I feel like we're on the downhill side of this. 2016 was a bad year for summer blockbusters and I think it's because a lot of people feel this way. They're still "safe" for studios so they'll continue a while longer, but original ideas will start becoming popular again I think, though most will be pretty low budget.

I think we need a break.  Give it 10 years or something and come out with a sequel/prequel for these franchises.

I really only get to see the 'blockbusters' at the movies anymore because of the kids and just not having time to dedicate to renting movies or going to the theater and not wanting to waste that sole opportunity in the year to see some random movie...so I go with the safe pick.  This year it will be Star Wars and pretty much every year from here on out for awhile it will be to see the new Star Wars movie most likely.

You just made a very convincing argument on why studios should stick to making remakes, sequels, and comic book movies.

Can we get some movies that aren't superheroes or video game-based again?   Please?      World War Z 2?  Really?   Does Brad buy some bad pot and turn into a zombie or something?

Restarting the Spider Man thing again already?    Enough.............Enough.     Can I just get some movies that don't need CGI or a Green Screen?     ****, I'd even take a biopic that is less accurate than A Beautiful Mind at this point.

Nobody's done a Timothy Leary movie...........he'd be a great subject.

How about a drama about the deflate-gate scandal, as stupid as that would be, it would be better than yet another Spider Man reboot.

I mean Tuturro,  I love you, buddy,  you are always great, but your character was  meant to be a 2 minute distraction, a goof, a laugh.  Can I get another season of John Stone instead?  I'd rather see a spin off movie of the Lou character from Fargo..........you know, the guy that didn't know DLR plates meant Dealer Plates?    I'd even take a spin off of the prison escapees from Raising Arizona    This "Jesus" spinoff would be like the Brady Bunch doing a spinoff of Alice's one-episode replacement called "That was Alice, I'm Kay!"  But I mean Spider Man.............again..................ugh. .

If I never see a superhero film again I would die happy. But I liked World War Z.

Brad is so cute when he is being manly.

Spider-man is going to be awesome. The brief appearances in civil war were worth the price of admission alone.

Saw both the Amy Adams flicks that are out this week. Nocturnal Animals and Arrivals. Both were excellent. The latter may get nominated.
