And so it begins . . .

Can Philly overcome the Vegas line in spite of this?

Oh yeah.

This is the perfect storm if you were looking to bet the over.  They could lose him for the year and I doubt it impacts their W/L record much at all.  But the average bettor will probably assume it will and bet the under.  That will probably make the books move the line another game or two down and you get a better bet.

We have televised basketball tonight.

Our first look at Durant in Golden State.

I forgot the time but the game is tonight on NBATV.

Probably the only way they get any better is for Simmons to affect their W/L total in a positive way. I'm not saying he can do it, but I sure wouldn't bet any overs if you're not confident in that. I guess you're betting on Embiid dominating at that point.

I think they get better by adding a #3 and #12 pick.  A  year of seasoning for Okafor, plus having him for the full season of games (Hopefully). Maybe another asset that works better for them in a Noel trade.

And the rest of the roster isn't great.  But it has more NBA type players this year than in the past when they filled it with D-League types.

Yah, its just a matter of Okafor/Noel gelling and what Saric/Embiid can do as rookies. They probably wish they had Ish Smith still(a decent loss compared to Bayless fwiw) with Simmons out!

I bet the 76ers were shocked when Ish went so cheap to Detroit.

I wonder if they had suspected that if they would have made a bigger push to keep him.

I know they wanted Simmons to run point and that is fine.  But you need a viable backup and it wouldn't have been the worst thing to let Ish start at point and slowly ease Simmons into it.  Especially at the cheap price of $6M per.

Shanghai vs Houston tips off on NBATV at 8PM tonight.

Tomorrow you have Real Madrid vs OKC at 2:30PM and then Bucks vs Bulls at 8PM and Utah vs Portland at 10PM.  All of those are on NBATV.

I'm a bit shocked by this, but on Tuesday you have games on ESPN.  I guess that was part of the new TV deal.

Gotta be careful with that one. Same injury as Durant right?

I think you're right. Didn't he come back and have to shut it down again?

Like the article said, they could have Simmons for 72 games and they still weren't going to compete for a playoff spot. Being extra cautious is the right move.

Yup, believe so.

One last tank, in Hinkie's memory!
