I have had a 3 day headache/neckache so I ate TWO pieces of cannabis-infused chocolate peppermint balls instead of half of one and it hit me quite hard about 90 minutes later and as I melted into my recliner and hit random on You Tube and this came up.  Came out a month ago.  It is soooo freaking weird, but it's worth the watch.     I mean, it's so weird that I thought I might be hallucinating it, or parts of it.    (A 60s music icon makes a cameo at the 2:20 mark).

I bought a TV for the first time since 2009. It’s a Samsung series 7. The settings have a dynamic, standard, natural, and movie.  I assume other brands have similar. What do you prefer?  I like movie but it’s not as bright but is that preference just because it’s what I am used to?  Dynamic seems to make everything look cheesy. Like it’s some low production thing.  Just curious what you all like.  Am I missing out on the benefits?

On my LG I use photo almost all the time. It's not as bright as other settings but there is no outside glare in the room its in and it seems the most natural and least fatiguing to look at for most things.

Yeah I'd say go with what you think looks best in your room at the time you watch it the most. They all vary so much.

I found their guide to be pretty good for our TV to set a baseline.  Then I just tweaked it a bit to match our room/lighting and what we think looks the best.  But those should get you close.

curiously, when our set connects to ATT-TV through the ATT box, all the image settings get over-ridden and it goes into forced HDR. There are a lot of complaints to ATT that the forced HDR looks terrible on 4K monitors when the feed is not really 4k and that they thus need to provide a method to turn the HDR off. However for whatever reason the HDR apparently works more compatibly with my LG regardless of the program source because I'm not seeing the problem many have described.

Throw some porn on and do some compare and contrast.

Apparently John C Reilly will take any paying job, even if it's payment in cans.

The incredible thing is that it's not horribly off from some of the really bad 80's sitcoms.  It really isn't.

How many times have you watched something and wondered "How the **** did this get approved?"     I was in the waiting room of a certain kind of store and they had a TV in there showing some show called The Ranch.   This show had Sam Elliott, Ashton Kutcher and Debra Winger in it.  I don't remember it but the writing was absolutely horrible, I mean HORRIBLE and I wondered "How the **** did anyone actually approve this?   It wasn't the least bit funny, it was as if a 9th grader wrote it.    Much like the series Ratched, which may be the worst thing I've ever seen.

I guess I've been spoiled by really good TV writing and forgot how bad a TV series could be.    Breaking Bad, Sopranos, Better Call Saul, Arrested Development.............and a few others make the rest of TV look awful.

House is a split decision for me.  The first few seasons, maybe the first 4, yes, but the joke got very very thin after that and got to the point where they just tried to keep topping his outrageousness..............like how Criminal Minds kept making their serial killers more and more cartoonish.   It's a good example of not knowing when to get out.     That's why, as much as I love Better Call Saul, I am glad it's walking away while it's still good.

Agreed. But to be fair, House also had to do like 24-episode seasons, whereas Saul is only 10. It's hard to come up with that much good content. Saul also has the benefit of not being a big network show.

What kind of store would have The Ranch on in the waiting room? It's a pretty vulgar show.

A store that is both medicinal and recreational................literally, the store is split in two halves and you can only go in the medicinal side if you have a card.  Here's the silly part............They sell the exact same things, you look across the room at the counters and they are set up like mirrors.       Brilliant laws here in Michigan.
