I misread Santiago's salary. It's not a bad salary dump for the Twins I guess, assuming no money change and Meyer isn't a great prospect, which it doesn't seem like he is.

Believe they said that no $$$ involved

Mike Pelfrey is definitely a Ken Holland move.  Sign a guy not only for a higher salary but for more years than anyone else would give.

Holland would sign Saltalamacchio to a 4 year $40 million contract.  Then keep a C in the minors.

Pearce most likely traded to the O's, who really don't need any O,,, so confusing, unless Rickard is out for the rest of the year.

Replacing Aviles with Pearce would have been a solid move, potentially.

I don't think Pearce was needed, but anything that gets Aviles off the roster would be good. When JD comes up, use Collins/Salty/Romine as the bench and call up Machado/Moya in September.

So the Cubs and Rangers win the most improved teams,,, the Yankees and Brewers get the best haul of prospects.  Agree? Disagree?

Zack Cozart was not traded to the Mariners.

Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reported Monday morning that the Reds and M's were close to a deal involving Cozart, but it clearly fell apart. The 30-year-old shortstop will be a prime trade candidate this winter. He carries one more season of arbitration eligibility after earning $2.95 million in 2016.

Now that the dust has settled... 27 teams made a trade leading up to the deadline. Only exceptions were the Rockies, Phillies and Tigers.

Very curious what Illitch said in this regard if anything or what his current health is.

Don't forget about the payroll.  Teams are not going to help the Tigers shed any salary.  They are paying 17.5 cents on the dollar over the limit, and next year they will pay 30 cents.
