Although the sponsorship doesn't surprise me, Little Caesars Arena doesn't really roll off the tongue.  I hope a clever and intuitive nickname emerges.

thing is... those usually develop on their own.

I never called it The Joe.  I just said Joe Louis.    The Joe bugged me.  I also hate it when people refer to Detroit as "The D"

What are your thoughts on the various April in the D songs?

In your dream, was Pierre McGuire still sitting inside the glass or was he atop this large wall, broadcasting the game and climbing down to interview coaches between commercials?

I don't recall, it wasn't that vivid;. I think there was a Kenny Holland dunk tank in the concourse though.

Those are just corporate jingles that aren't organic and thus never catch on.  LCA has several possibilities for organically grown nicknames, although I'm sure the Ilitches will try to push the nicknames they prefer (i.e., they won't sign off on "The Pizza Hut").

That comment was purely tongue in cheek.

I assume you were using your tongue to get some Little Caesar's Pizza out of your cheek.......;)

I prefer  "center" over arena ie Staples Center, Barclay's Center, United Center etc.  To me it sounds more modern where as "arena" makes it sound like an older venue.

I prefer "arena." "Center" sounds pretentious to me.

Wojo: Wings' new arena will have an area called the Caesarian Section. When the C-Section gets crowded it will be standing womb only".

Caesars

Yep. I'm headed to Comerica to see the Tigers. The Wings take on the Hawks at Caesars.

I like Caesars....either Caesars or the slice for me.  It really depends on what catches on I guess.  Kinda like CoPa...the baseball elite (I think it was them) tried to get that to stick, but it was forced.  Everyone I know calls it Comerica Park.

I think Caesars will probably stick.  The only thing that will prevent it is Caesars already being so close in Windsor.  I can see someone saying "I am going to Caesars' and people thinking they are going to the casino and them having to correct them.  That could get old.

That would be too much... I'm thinking more about what people would say casually in conversation or on MB or twitter... a publication or broadcast would not do that because I'm guessing Caesar's Palace or whatever the gambling/hotel conglomerate is known as owns that name... who knows.  But the common person will just say Caesars.
