I think they're trading down and taking Taylor Decker. There will be a run on OT's that will see Tunsil, Stanley, Conklin and Spriggs taken at tackle. There is a good chance Shaq Lawson could be their for Bob Quinn. I think it ends up being the case though where Quinn values having late round 1st selection of Decker + 2nd or 3rd + 4th or 5th or 6th more than he does standing pat and taking Lawson. It's true that Decker probably isn't a LT prospect, but the value that comes along with trading back and still being able to get him will be too lucrative to pass up.

I see the Lions most likely trade partners being one of the Colts at #19, Jets at #20, Redskins at #21, Texans at #22 or Broncos at #31.

Tough call if it's between Conklin and Lawson.

I would say Conklin... but it looks like there might be a run on OT's early... so I went with Lawson.

I don't think DT is a 1st round option, unless both Conklin and Lawson are already gone... if they are both gone, I think it opens up the Lions draft (1st round pick) to quite a few different directions it could go.

It's harder to find a quality OT after the 2nd round, so if not Conklin in the 1st, they might gran best available here. Butler falling to this spot would make it a tough call.

Late 3rd round selection, so best WR available, for depth.

From the 4th onward, I think the draft opens up quite a bit for the Lions. 4th, 5th and 6th rounds seem like good spots for depth players at Safety (maybe a starter), DT, QB, TE (eventual Pettigrew replacement so MUST be good blocker, plus be able to catch some...), WR (if not already selected), DE (same), LB'er...

I don't mean to be going Need here instead of BPA... but it seems like the draft is falling into place for the Lions right along those lines...

I don't think Conklin or Rankins will drop to us, but I don't think its zero percent either, so I threw them on there.

Lots of bears rumors have them taking lawson or rankins or elliot.  I dont think elliot will be ther at 11 but lawson will.  I think lawson is gone by the time the lions pick.  Conklin too.

I'd rather trade back for with someone who wants paxton lynch and then see if spriggs falls to the end of round one.

This is my goal. Could make sense for Denver or Cleveland to jump Buffalo and the Jets who are not too far behind us.

I'd also be ok with us taking Spriggs at 16 too though to be honest. LTs are hard to find, don't get too cute if you believe in him. If you want a DT though, trade down for sure, especially if Rankins is gone.

Hearing strong rumors of Lynch to Browns at 8.  Hearing Spriggs could go higher than anybody anticipated.  Hearing Lawson could go as high as #6 to the Ravens.  It's draft season, of course.  I'll be at work, and will miss it.  I'll set my DVR.

I also heard the Ravens have some interest in Lawson, as well as Floyd at 6. Seems like edge rusher or bust for them. Lynch at 8 would be interesting. Push someone down to us.

Conklin is #4 on Kiper's final big board

I could see spriggs going before conklin because spriggs has the potential to be a decent left tackle and conklin is going to be a right tackle.

I don't particularly agree. He shouldn't go where he's projected if that's what people believe IMO.

I like Spriggs more than Stanley though. Stanley's basically off my board. Not that I consider him undraftable, but I wouldn't take him in a place where he'd realistically be available, even worst case scenario.

He's got a significant edge in athelticism. About a full quarter second in the 40, 3 cone and shuttle. He also beat Stanley in all 3 of those by similar or greater margins. He's not quite Taylor Lewan though.

If Lawson and Conklin are both gone... I'm on board with this. I think Decker has to be a target, along with Spriggs, if we trade down. He'd lock up RT for us. Same with Spriggs, at least RT to start. I'd have more comfort-level that Spriggs could grow into LT eventually, not so with Decker. The other temptation in a trade down though, will be to start considering Butler at the end of the 1st...

Second this. Not Reiff 2.0.

But I think if we did draft Conklin, he'd be best at RT for a year. And then figure out what to do with the OT situation after the 2016-17 season. Switch the two tackles/ re-sign Reiff, or not/ replace Reiff at LT with someone else/ move Conklin to LT get another RT... etc.

Yah. I think he could be a dominant RT, or even G, or a LT who's not elite but is probably better than Reiff(who has been underrated in his own right)

No 1st year rush to make a decision or force him into a position (LT) either. It can play our for at least a year. The Lions can adapt after this season to reality/ necessity...

Hilarious, I came here to say I've become pretty obsessed with Kelly. While back to back interior OLs in the first isn't ideal, I think Kelly would quickly win Detroit fans over. Finally get the type of C to Detroit everyone has wanted for so long.

Spriggs and Kelly have become my top 2 targets. Best available DL in the 2nd.

I guess every center drafted in the first round over the last decade has been a pro bowler, that was an interesting stat I heard on The Ticket at lunch today.

I just think this team has more pressing needs than a center at this point. Plus, I don't know that the value of having Ryan Kelly at center, versus upgrading a position elsewhere, is light years better than the value Nick Martin, Jack Allen, Graham Glasgow or Max Tuerk bring to the table. Sure, Kelly is better than those guys, but there are other positions where the guy we could select is significantly better than his alternatives. I'm not going to get mad over anything Bob Quinn does, short of selecting Hunter Henry, so I'll just role with whatever happens. Kelly though, wouldn't be who I would pick by any means.

Hoping for Conklin/Lawson/Rankins.

If not a trade down would be great.

I'm currently involved in a 32 human mock draft over on my fantasy football forum. We're on round 4. It's been quite brutal. Nobody falling where I want, and only having a comp pick in the 3rd round was very frustrating !
