Kevin Hogan.

Cardale Jones from OSU would be a nicer pickup. The dude has alot of tools...can run pretty good.

I'm probably in the minority on this one, but I much prefer Rudock to Hogan.  Jones isn't even on the radar, he's likely to go on day 2.  Lions should be looking for a day 3 QB only.

I guess someone could lose their mind on Jones.

Rudock and Hogan are pretty similar to me. Rudock a little safer, Hogan slightly more upside.

We have no idea if the new Lions bosses are sold on Stafford or not.  Rudock as a project? See how Matthew looks with no Calvin to bail him out? I see Stafford as regressing. Big time. Maybe it's the same deal as Caldwell, a wait and see approach. Give the new GM a chance to see areas we need to improve. And go from there .  Patience? It's only been 60 years, what's a few more?

I cannot imagine Ruddock ever progressing to the point of passing Stafford, even if Stafford regresses.

Nobody in this draft would pass Stafford.  Stafford would go #1 in this draft, easily.  Not looking for a #1, looking for a backup QB.  QB's usually hold value if they play well in preseason.

I think Stafford will be fine,  I'm more concerned with the Lions running game.

Yea, so was Romo until he went down for an extended period.......and how did that work out in Dallas?

My main issue is this. Almost all backup QBs are a huge drop off from your starer and you aren't likely to find some perfect replacement for your franchise QB in the 5th round. I'm fine taking a shot at it, but odds are over the next year, maybe two, we are better off with Dan Orlovsky in the game than Kevin Hogan or Jake Rudock.

Stafford has been more durable than Romo.

Also, I think Rudock would chase Orlovsky.  I think he's really underrated, and improved a great deal last year.  At the beginning of the year I did not think he was NFL caliber, but he is now.  I also like him more than Jake Coker of Alabama.

Tom Brady calling... but yeah that doesn't really happen.

I agree on a 3rd day QB...

But why the interest in Rudock? Because he plays for Michigan? Is he any better than Kellen Moore? His profile doesn't sound any different. (You'll have to tell me as I haven't watched any UM football in years...). But most sights have him as an undrafted FA candidate, and not a highly rated one at that. Which doesn't interest me at all.

I think Hogan will do fine as a 3rd QB, and yes, I'm banking on the upside that he starts getting much better consistency with NFL coaching. If not Hogan, I'd settle for Sudfeld or Driskel.

 Rudock

- passes all 6 of the Parcells QB requirements(not gospel for me , but its a good start) - Senior,3 year starter, 23+ wins, graduated, 2-1 TD/INT, 60% comps.

- Played in pro style offenses

- Worked with Harbaugh

- Scores well in the QB stats PFF gave in its draft guide. Deep passing accuracy percentage, accuracy percentage under pressure and overall accuracy percentage.

None of these are gospel to me, but its a pretty good resume for a 5th-7th round QB who are only looking at for a backup role really.
