The Monday night episode of Jeopardy is supposed to be the very first episode Trebek ever did.

I watched it, kind of interesting what has changed and what has remained the same.

The game flow seemed familiar, yet there were a lot of questions left on the board at the end of each round.  I think there were actually two full categories at the end of round 1 and close to that at the end of round 2.

The studio audience would audibly gasp at wrong answers.  That was kind of entertaining the first few times, but got old.

Contestants were able to log in before the answer was completed, and you could hear them log in.   This was despite the fact that the rules stated that logging in was permissible only after the answer had been read completely.  Before the episode was shown, Trebek made mention of this in a quick preview of the rerun.  He said that this glitch remained in place through the first 2 (or maybe 3?) seasons.

I think Trebek sounded very similar to today.  Obviously he sounded stronger then.  And I think at some point during the game, you can tell in his voice that he is trying to pick up the pace.  He might seem a bit more polished now, but there didn't seem too much out of Trebek that has changed.

So last night's retro Jeopardy edition was night #2 in its existence.

The two new contestants were a male nurse and a female carpenter and were correctly introduced as such.  When it came time for Trebek to interview them in mid round one, Trebek started it off by mentioning that he was afraid that their professions were mismatched during the pregame intros.

So he asked the male what he did, and he responded that he was indeed a male nurse.  "Wow, are there many of you fellas out there?"

He then went to the female contestant and asked her how she got into carpentry.  "Well, I needed the money,...., and I am good at it."

Kind of a cringeworthy minute or two.

All 3 contestants incorrectly answered final jeopardy and all 3 contestants bet everything.  I think the winnings up to that point were $1,100, $4,500, and $8,300, something to that effect where it wasn't a runaway and where the lowest bank had a chance only because the other two were within enough of a range to make it a contest.

And the ending was really weird because the audience was yelling out about the correct question.  Trebek hadn't mentioned it during the segment.

NSFW Language.

Been a rough summer for Kid Poker.  He has had multiple meltdowns while live streaming the online WSOP tournament games.  Doug Polk made this video making fun of him.  Or more likely to make people hate him since he included the clip of him in blackface.

Here is one of his meltdown clips from the summer.  Very NSFW language.

As I watch this Fanduel Sportsbook commercial ahead of the Tiger game, I am reminded how badly Michigan has botched their setup of mobile gambling.   This has been done rapidly in a number of other states and there is no reason it should be taking so long to implement here.   They are missing out on huge streams of much needed revenue.

It's probably saving me money not having mobile betting.

I have only made 4 bets since FK opened their book.  One on NASCAR and three on F1.  I'm a brilliant F1 punter since I'm 2-1 on those bets.  Doesn't really take a rocket scientist to bet on Lewis though.

Not real interested in the NBA returning and I wasn't betting it anyway.  CFB will be a bummer but it wont matter if they don't play.

Curious to see how Detroit's finances look with those 3 casinos still closed.  I imagine the city depends on that tax revenue in a big way.

FK giving away a new Corvette in August.

Nobody knew him, but a guy in the poker room won the Tesla a few years ago.  It was actually his wife that won, but still pretty cool.  When they called the name he went running out of the room like a mad man.

The Detroit casinos got approval to open at 15% capacity.

A podcast I listen to said what capacity a casino needs to operate at to be profitable.  I can't exactly remember but I think they said 30-35%.

Polk has hammered Kid Poker for years now.  Looks like that blackface video finally pushed it over the edge.

This has a real chance of being very ugly for Daniel.  He is a fantastic poker player and I'm not trying to take anything away from him.  But he is more a tournament player or mixed game player.  Polk is a HU specialist and I don't know how much he has been playing lately or how sharp his game is, but 5-6 years ago he was considered the best HU player in the world.  There was a point he couldn't even get anyone to sit with him.

I'm curious to see how deep they play.  I consider 400BB to be deep and that would mean each player has $160,000 on the table.  At 400+ hands per hour that can disappear pretty quick.  I wouldn't be shocked if Daniel negotiates 200BB max or something like that.

I am sort of skeptical if this ever happens.  But I give Daniel credit for stepping up and not backing away.  Polk offered him some pretty sweet terms and Daniel turned them down.  He offered half the hands NLHU and the half would be Daniels choice.  He let Daniel set the stakes and he picked a healthy number IMO.  He did kind of ***** out on tables by taking the lowest number Polk offered.  Doug was pushing for 4.  The amount of hands has not been set but Daniel said between 10K and 25K.  I would much rather see 100K+ but nobody asked me.  I imagine Doug would also prefer that.

They did agree to livestream it free.  So if it actually happens it will be the first live poker I have watched in years.  A grudge match is bringing me back to live poker.  Ooompa Loompas bringing me back to baseball.  It was a good day.

I wonder if we see a lot of team totals going over for the NBA restart.

On more than one occasion I have read comments from players about how great the shooting backgrounds are in Orlando.  No moving fans wearing multi colored clothing, and I think at least one of the arenas has a black curtain as a backdrop.  Could be a small edge to push there.

NOP-Jazz is 225.5

LAL-LAC is 216.5

FanDuel is running a promotion the call "Spread the Love."  Max bet of $50 on the Lakers and I believer it started at +9 -110.  Every 2,500 that make the bet FanDuel will add another point.  Right now it is Lakers +13.

Just back from placing some bets.  Just a few symbolic NBA bets since that used to be my thing and I wanted to place some legally for the first time.

Celtics to win the ECF +700

Celtics to win the finals +1600

NOP -3 -110

LAL -4.5 -110

70% would be insane.

Should have known.  This guy just announced he is becoming a tout.  $200 a month and he guarantees 60% win rate or your money back.

Get ready to refund a lot of money.

I only truly enjoy playing poker at the casino.  I will sit at a machine sometimes, but I get the real juice from the poker table, shuffling chips etc.  It is going to awhile before I venture back out to a casino.

I don't see the point in opening them up at 15% capacity.

Something I'm interested in seeing how it plays out is the second lockdown that is coming.  The tribal casinos played ball for a little bit last time, will they this time?

If you are a tribe member getting a check for $50K a year,  you  might not work.  That casino shuts down and that check stops coming in, you are not eligible for unemployment.  Easy to see why they opened up early.
