Michigan Recruiting 2017

Recommended Posts

and the beat rolls on.

Dylan McCaffrey, brother to RB at Stanford and the #1 rated pocket passer for 2017 has committed to UM.

Supposedly Stanford has a QB committed to them that they like better.

Hopefully Stanford still likes him better in February of 2017 :bandit:

This will be interesting. Harbaugh certainly isn't leaving the QB position to chance.

QB projected Depth Chart right now:

1. O'Korn--Michigan insiders like Sam Webb have given the hard sell he will go into Spring as the firm #1

2. Speight--Throws a great ball, ideal size, didn't hurt the team last year when called upon.

3. Morris--Says he is staying, and competing, but you have to wonder. Does it matter if he stays?

4. Peters--Harbaugh banking on Luck happening twice, should RS in '16 though . . .and maybe groomed Henson/Brady style with O'Korn in '17

5. Malzone--Really got squeezed, any way the Hoke recruit will stay?

6. Gentry--Staff loves his athleticism and huge frame, but lots of TE in the fold now so will he really change positions? Do Gentry and Morris flip a coin to see who stays?

7. McCaffrey--Big frame, like Gentry and Speight but higher rated as a rising senior. May have to wait until Peters leaves or graduates to get a shot to start.

Michigan hasn't been this stacked at QB since the days of Driesbach, Griese, and Brady.

Good pickups from S GA this past weekend, a 4* db  Otis Reese and dl Aubry Solomon. Solomon was supposed to be at Alabama with Mr Saban but went to Ann Arbor instead still long way to Feb....

Article from DetNews regarding these two and camp impact

Sick move by Harbaugh landing those 2 when they were expected to take visits to more preferred schools afterwards. Wow, just wow

Michigan loses 3 commits in a week. Solomon is the biggest and he is a complete clown, Michigan dodged a bullet with him.

Why is he a clown?

It was a surprise he committed when he did, putting it mildly.  Mom wasn't there and she wants him to stay in the South.

Not worried about the 2018 decommits.

How many of UM's signees from last feb were committed or even on the radar at this point last year?

Point being not a big deal.

the Harbaugh comments about the rumors of his departure to Rams being from our enemies and "three" coaches he wouldn't name is gonna make for some interesting fuel for the rivalries.

I hear DPJ has been a silent since his last visit, hope it is true because he would be a ridiculous recruit to lose.  The kid interned at the hospital last summer, father UM alum.

Sam Webb had a great write up on this recruiting battle at TMI.   UM has done well to make this a battle and shows that they will be a recruiting force as Harbaugh and staff get in on kids earlier to establish the long term relationships that can help seal the deal on commitment day.

If Sam ever wrote a book about the program spanning the last decade or so it would be an amazing read.

I guess when Najee Harris was visiting last week Peoples-Jones was kinda shadowing him around and supposedly they formed a friendship.  I wouldn't be shocked if he could help sway him to flip from Bama to UM.
