2016 NBA trade deadline

Butler is one of my favorite players. KCP and Drummond for Butler and Mirotic with Noah's contract thrown in. ;)

I think the Rose situation has destroyed that team. With Gasol and Butler alone, you should have little problem being the second best team in the East with just some semblance of chemistry and a support cast.

The one guy I would like to move yet is Marcus Morris. Don't have anything against him. I think he makes a nice sixth man. But I just wonder if he can bring more value in return than he provides on the court.

Just read some rumors that Gasol is being shopped. What a steal that guy would be for somebody on that contract.

You are not afraid of his age?

Trade Deadline Buzz

I am sure everyone knows this but would you trade for him if he was cheap? Could Detroit actually trade for him now or is it impossible? Do they need the salaries to match up? Would they need a 3rd team in the deal?

If Orlando is in full dump mode, why not go back to them? They were talking to us about Fournier, they wanna dump Frye...

Would they dump Frye, Fournier, and Elfrid Payton for Meeks, Bullock, Blake, and 1 of Anthony or Tolliver?

It gives them some cap relief this summer, and more next summer. Do we have to send them a 1st rounder to clinch the deal? Two? Would SVG consider giving up two 1sts for those 3 guys? Gives us (3) 3-pt shooters: a young backup PG, a young wing player, and a vet PF to put behind Harris. I think that rounds out our team quite nicely.

And if they want a reset, that does it:

I don't think people understand how devisive Rose is for that team. He went from being one of the most beloved athletes in Chicago to being one of the most reviled in the space of two years.

Quitting on your team and being a complete idiot about it will do that to you.

If Orlando is in full dump mode...

I might be misreading Orlando's intent and they're not really in dump mode or interested in losing Fournier and/ or Payton. Just wanna move Frye. Are we interested?

So, Cleveland's willing to move anyone on the team aside from LeBron and Irving...

Anyone interested in Dellavedova?

Weird move by Orlando to dump Tobias for 2 expirings. Know they have Hezonja and Gordon but man.... That's not exactly a big free agent destination either.... So for them to give up an asset like that is real strange.

I would be interested in signing Jennings though if I were them. I don't think Payton is that good in today's league of outside shooting.

GM: Magic won’t trade six core players before deadline – ProBasketballTalk

The theory is out there that Fournier & Payton are simply not on the block and are to be held over as part of a core to build with/around. But then again, its just a theory. As the last bit of the article reads,

Orlando shouldn’t be committed to keeping this core at all costs. But if Hennigan knows the market for his remaining players and wants to see them play without Harris and Frye – and with Ersan Ilyasova and Brandon Jennings – it’s not necessarily premature to declare those six off the table.

For now.

anyone looking at the Orlando boards for their reaction to this trade?

I took a look at a Magic board. A lot of the posters claimed that Skiles probably wanted some of his old players back as he coached Jennings and İlyasova in Milwaukee.

Orlando is really committed to developing Gordon, and combined with Skiles' history with Harris it seemed like Tobias was never staying if Skiles was.

Orlando really does think of themselves, still, as being a free agent destination. No state income tax in FL is a big deal when you're talking about $100M contracts, IMO. Kind of the same situation with Houston and Dallas.

Aside from the tax break, Orlando offers quite a bit for a star athlete. The cost of living is very affordable compared to Miami, NY, Chicago, Boston or anywhere in California. Dr. Phillips/Windermere/Isleworth is one of the most exclusive developments in the country--Tiger Woods, Shaq, McGrady, Vince Carter, Bubba Watson, Ken Griffey Jr., Barry Larkin, Grant Hill, Paula Creamer, etc . . . either have a house there or used to.

I agree that it seems like Orlando could have gotten more for Harris. After all, this is the same team that had the vision to see that Fournier was a legit NBA scorer for any rotation. IMO they are definitely going after a big fish in the off-season whether it be via FA or trade.

Payton is one of the best playmakers and defenders at the PG position in the L with a wingspan of 6'8" . . . and a very good athlete to boot. He's shooting just over 36% from 3pt this season, and just over 42% overall. He's 21, a very dangerous age to give up on a player with so much upside.

50/50 Highly upset over a crappy trade versus rationalizing with any kind of logic that can be scraped up...

84 Lives, nobody is giving us good players for our crap

Of course.

Except somehow Bower and SVG keep pulling that off. And not just once, but several times.

Besides, I'm using 1st rounders and crap to try and find a team that wants to blow things up and get cap space and draft picks... so I'm not using entirely or "only" crap... just "some" crap to match up salaries.

My gosh, what a list:

Anthony Tolliver for Tony Mitchell.

Reggie Jackson for DJ Augustin, Singler, and two 2nd's.

Ersan Ilyasova for Caron Butler and Shawne Williams

Morris, Bullock & Granger for a 2020 2nd.

Tobias Harris for Ilyasova and Jennings.

Hey... if opportunity knocks, take advantage.

Just sayin', even though those were all great deals for us, they made sense for the other team for some reason. Mostly just giving 84 a hard time anyways.

Assuming Donatas Motiejunas is good to go, it looks like the Detroit Pistons could have a really solid 2nd unit.
