Eaves, 22, has almost exclusively played second base in the minors and batted .248/.308/.387 with 11 home runs, 71 RBI, and 21 stolen bases over 134 games last season at the High-A level. There's some interesting power and speed here, but strikeouts have been a big issue for him.

Marte was just designated for assignment by the Tigers last week after the addition of Justin Upton. The 24-year-old corner infielder posted strong numbers at the Triple-A level last season and batted .213/.284/.413 with four home runs over 90 plate appearances with Detroit. He could be in the mix for a bench job in the spring, but the Angels could keep him around as minor league depth.

Wendell Ray Kody Billy Bob Eaves, Jr.

And here I was hoping for flotsam

I was actually thinking of saying "flotsam for jetsam", but based on the actual definitions of the words—flotsam debris occurs by accident; jetsam debris is thrown overboard on purpose—I didn't think that flotsam fit.

Ahh,,,the newer, cheaper, younger, Scott Sizemore!!!

At 1st glance, he looks like a Jacoby Jones lite. Maybe less athletic and attached/ stuck to 2B.

I guess all kidding aside, its probably a decent move. Marte was just taken off of the 40. Probably didn't have much of an opportunity with the Tigers. Eaves doesn't appear to be much of anything, but he's younger and can be stashed away in the minors for a bit to see if there's anything there.
